Moose Signs On to Mind Candy’s World of Warriors

Oct10.MindCandyOnline game developer Mind Candy has given rights for toy development and manufacturing in North America and Australia to Moose Toys for Mind Candy’s upcoming release of World of Warriors.

Moose Toys will be responsible for toy lines based on the game, including collectibles and play sets.

World of Warriors is set to launch digitally as a game on iOS and Android devices in six languages this year, with branded products, including toys, to follow throughout next year.

Moshi Monsters Boss Michael Acton Smith Steps Down

Michael Acton Smith, who has run Mind Candy for 10 years, will step down. He has stated that he wants to focus on a more creative role rather than the day-to-day running of the firm.

Divinia Knowles, who has been at the company for eight years, and is currently chief operating and financial officer, will become president. A new chief executive will be announced at a later date, the company has said.

Mind Candy is known for the children’s social network Moshi Monsters, one of the world’s most popular children’s social networks, with around 80 million users. The service operates through paid subscriptions; however, associated merchandise—plush toys, music albums and other spin-offs—generate roughly half of Mind Candy’s revenue.

Moshi Monsters Village Launches on Mobile and Tablet

MoshiMonstersVillageThe world of Moshi Monsters is now available globally on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Moshi Monsters Village, developed by Mind Candy in collaboration with Tag Games, lets players embark on fun-filled 3-D quests to rescue captured Moshlings and defeat naughty Glumps in mini-games. The game also features Facebook social connectivity and friend code shares, so players can interact with their friends Moshi Monsters villages and see how they compare.

Moshi Monsters Village can be downloaded for free at the App Store, although some game items can be purchased for real money. Parents or players who do not want to use this feature are able to disable in-app purchases in their device’s settings. Google Play, Android, and Kindle versions of the game will be available this month.

Moshi Monsters’ Katsuma Is Unleashed on Nintendo DS and 3DS

MoshiMonstersMoshi Monsters: Katsuma Unleashed was released for the Nintendo DS and 3DS. The game features six monster-ific worlds, and the 3DS version includes StreetPass secrets—18 explorable levels, 12 playable mini stage challenges, seven boss battles, and additional mini games where users play as each of the Moshi Monsters using their own unique moves.

Moshi Monsters: Katsuma Unleashed was created as part of the partnership between Activision Publishing Inc. and Mind Candy, the company behind the children’s brand, Moshi Monsters. The game was developed by UK-based studio Sumo Digital Ltd., and is available at retail and katsumaunleashed.com.

Mind Candy Partners with Activision for Moshi Monsters Game

Katsuma_Unleashed_AUSMind Candy has partnered with Activision Publishing Inc. for a new video game, Katsuma Unleashed. The game is planned to hit store shelves on October 11 in Europe and November 5 in North America, and is currently in development at UK-based studio Sumo Digital for the Nintendo DS and 3DS handheld gaming systems.

Katsuma Unleashed is a side-scrolling, action-adventure platform game designed to appeal to Moshi fans of all ages. In a move away from the previous two titles, the game will feature stand-alone hero character Katsuma. As the franchise’s most popular Moshi Monster, players will embark on a voyage with Katsuma through new worlds packed with mini arcade challenges and boss battles. Along the way, Katsuma will have to battle enemy characters using powerful new capabilities, including Furi’s Smash and Diavlo’s Flight, in order to rescue other Moshi Monsters. Another feature available in the 3DS version is StreetPass secrets—18 explorable maps and monster attack games where users get to play as each of the Moshi Monsters, each with its own unique set of moves.

Chicago Toy & Game Group Expands Events in the U.S. and Abroad

The Chicago Toy & Game Group (ChiTAG) expanded its toy industry networking events to cities around the U.S., Canada, and the UK.

ChiTAG Networking Events were recently held in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Toronto with upcoming events planned for London on June 5, Chicago on June 11, and Nashville on June 18 during ASTRA Marketplace & Academy, as well as events slated for New York, Seattle, Boston, Indianapolis, Sarasota, Montreal, and more.

Moshi Monsters Signs 100th Partner

Mind Candy announced its “monstrous” licensing program for Moshi Monsters at Brand Licensing Europe. Mind Candy has more than 40 UK licensees on board and another 60 signed internationally.

For the UK, licensees for Moshi Monsters include Vivid as master toy partner, Penguin for publishing, Topps for trading cards, Winning Moves for Top Trumps, Ty for Beanie Babies, Activision for Nintendo DS, Mega Brands for construction blocks, E-max for claybuddies, Gemma International for greeting cards and party wear, H Grossman for wheeled products, and more. The U.S. program now has more than 50 partners for softlines, toys and games, hardlines, publishing, novelty, activity, back-to-school, and celebration, with more category announcements coming soon.

Moshi Monsters has also announced that a court injunction has banned the planned release of a music single from one of its Moshling characters, Lady Goo Goo. The injunction was granted to Lady Gaga, preventing Mind Candy from “promoting, advertising, selling, distributing, or otherwise making available to the public ‘The Moshi Dance’ or any musical work or video which purports to be performed by a character by the name of Lady Goo Goo.” Lady Gaga’s lawyers argued that the pop star and character singer were too similar.

Moshi Monsters Toys Exclusively At Toys “R” Us

Mind Candy and Spin Master, Ltd have announced a partnership to expand the online gaming hit Moshi Monsters into a line of toys, to be carried exclusively at Toys “R” Us. The product offerings will include six plush Moshi Monsters characters, as well as 32 Moshling (monsters’ pets) minifigures, all available in late July. To integrate the toy experience with the online world, the toy design includes secret redeemable codes and special trial memberships. Future merchandising will include trading cards produced by Topps and books from Scholastic, Inc.

Vivid Signs on for Moshi Monsters Toys

Mind Candy, the global developer and publisher of the free-to-play online game Moshi Monsters, has signed a master toy licensing deal with Vivid Imaginations. Vivid will launch Moshi Monster-branded toys across the UK, North America, Australia, and New Zealand starting next January. The initial toy line will include miniature collectables and plush soft toys. Vivid will support the brand with TV advertising, online marketing, PR, and a fully-integrated promotional plan for the Moshi Monsters fan base.
