COMMENTARY: Monkeez (and Others) Help Kids Make A Difference

monkeezIt’s the season of toys and giving, as the holidays are quickly approaching. December’s cheerful spirit is evident throughout the city, on social media, and in toy stores worldwide. Christmas lights are hanging everywhere, department stores are adorned with pops of red and green, and children are on their best behavior, hoping to fall on the right side of the naughty-or-nice list. Santa is taking last-minute requests from children who will surely receive their prizes for being good girls and boys all year long.

When I was a kid, my parents always took part in Operation Christmas Child, an organization that collects shoeboxes full of toys and non-perishable items to be given to children who wouldn’t otherwise have a Christmas gift to open, during this time of year. I loved getting to help put toys together to send to kids around the world, though I didn’t really understand exactly what it meant. Now, I see kids crying in department stores wanting their toys now, and I see lists of toys growing longer and longer. I’m all for it—‘tis the season—but I think it’s important that kids learn to receive with a grateful attitude, rather than an expectant one.

The older I get, the more bittersweet the holidays become. The music, ice-skating, tacky sweater parties, and family time are wonderful, but the receiving of gifts isn’t as satisfying as it was when Barbie dolls and Polly Pockets filled my Christmas wish list. It’s now apparent to me that so many kids spend Christmas without basic necessities, and certainly without gifts to open. Monkeez Makes a Difference to Give Away Charity Event Kits During ASTRA

Monkeez Makes a DifferenceMonkeez Makes a Difference, the educational, charitable program for children from MVP Brands, will give away more than 100 charity event kits to retailers during the ASTRA Marketplace & Academy in Nashville from June 17 to 18. Event kits include ideas and materials to plan and host communitybuilding events to benefit three nationally renowned charities the program partners with, including how to set up a lemonade stand to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, collecting dog toys to benefit Best Friends Animal Society and local animal shelters, and hosting Operation Christmas Child shoe box packing parties to benefit Samaritan’s Purse. Monkeez Makes a Difference Debuts New Characters, Pet Toys During Atlanta Market

Monkeez Makes a Difference, the educational, charitable program for children from MVP Group International, is adding several new sock-monkey characters and toys to the philanthropic line. Ten new knit and mini plush characters and eight new pet toys will join the more than 90 existing products in the family. The new products will debut during the Atlanta Market and will also be available for ordering during the Dallas and Las Vegas markets, as well as at the American International Toy Fair in New York. MVP Group International Delivers Donations To Charities

Monkeez Makes a Difference, MVP International’s charitable program, has delivered its first round of donations to three charities: Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, Samaritan’s Purse, and Best Friends Animal Society received a total of $15,437.33. Developed by Chrysti Propes, the Monkeez Make a Difference program teaches children the importance of helping others through kid-friendly tools, such as the Genuine Monkeez and Friends plush characters, online games, and Do Good challenge trading cards.
