Little Charmers App Hits No. 1 on iTunes

Little Charmers SparkleUpRoughly a week after its launch, Little Charmers: Sparkle Up has taken the No. 1 spot for downloaded iPad apps in the App Store on iTunes across the U.S. and Canada. The first app for the Little Charmers brand, Little Charmers: Sparkle Up is a free download for tablets and smartphones that will be available on Amazon and Google Play this month. So far, it has garnered more than 100,000 downloads in the U.S. and Canada.

Playmates Toys Signs On as Master Toy Partner for Mysticons

Mysticons_CityCorus Entertainment‘s Nelvana has partnered with The Topps Company, Playmates Toys, and Nickelodeon for Mysticons, which will make its global debut in 2017. Playmates Toys will act as the global master toy partner for Mysticons, and Nelvana is developing the franchise into a half-hour animated TV series, which will enter production later this year.

Nelvana to Create New TV Series and Drive Global Merchandising for Cepia’s Zhu Zhu Pets

ZhuZhuPets, JillyCorus Entertainment‘s Nelvana has entered a partnership with Cepia LLC to bring the Zhu Zhu Pets brand back to store shelves, with Nelvana Studio producing a new animated series based upon the property. New Distribution Deals for Tinga Tinga Tales and Guess with Jess

Classic Media’s Tinga Tinga Tales, a co-production with Tiger Aspect Productions in association with HomeBoyz, launched on CBeebies in February and is set for its U.S. debut on Playhouse Disney next spring.

The animated preschool show, inspired by traditional African folktales and the Tinga Tinga art of Tanzania, has announced new international deals, including ABC (Australia), Rai (Italy), Mini Mini (Poland), YLE (Finland), ViaSat 1, Can Family (Ghana), True Visions (Thailand), RTE (Ireland), NRK (Norway), SVT (Sweden), TVB (Hong Kong), JCC Al Jazeera Children’s Channel (Middle East), Canal Panda (Portugal), and France TV (France).

New Broadcasting and Licensing Deals for Beyblade: Metal Fusion

Nelvana Enterprises has announced several broadcasting and licensing deals for the new animated series Beyblade: Metal Fusion.

Beyblade: Metal Fusion, from Nelvana and d-rights Inc., will be airing on Cartoon Network in the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand; Gulli in France; Nickelodeon in Germany; Nicktoons in the U.K.; Disney XD in Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands; and BOING, Turner’s Free To Air Block in Spain, broadcasted on Telecinco and Factoria de Ficcion. The series premiered on YTV in Canada last month.

Hasbro, Inc. has been appointed the master toy licensee for most international markets outside of Asia. The new toy line has already launched in Canada and is set to hit shelves this fall in the U.S., Mexico, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Scandinavia, Australia, and New Zealand.

New Beyblade Series and Toy Line to Launch in Canada

On May 15, Beyblade: Metal Fusion, a spin-off of Beyblade, will premiere on Canada’s YTV. From Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana and Japan’s d-rights, the new series will kick off with a four-episode stunt event at 12 p.m. that day.

Beyblade: Metal Fusion features a new cast of characters as they follow Gingka and battle the rising dangerous group, The Dark Nebula. Following the stunt event, the series will air every Saturday on YTV at 12 p.m. ET/PT.
