Toy Fair 2017 Breaks TIA Records

Screen Shot 2017-03-03 at 3.01.24 PMThe Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) 114th North American International Toy Fair brought 31,133 members of the toy industry to New York City last week to preview hundreds of thousands of games coming out this year. The largest toy marketplace held in the Western Hemisphere, Toy Fair 2017 boasted a record-breaking 444,309 net square feet of exhibit space—the equivalent of nearly eight football fields filled with toys. TIA Names 2017 Toy Trends

The Toy Industry Association (TIA) named collectibles, active toys, robotics, and more as top toy trends of 2017 at the 114th North American International Toy Fair. The session, held on Feb. 19, 2017, was moderated by Ken Seiter, TIA VP of marketing communications with commentary provided by Adrienne Appell, Isabel Carrión-López and Kristin Morency Goldman.

Record Breaking Toy Donations at Toy Fair Helped 50,000 Children

tblogoAt the end of the 113th North American International Toy Fair, more than 80 Toy Bank volunteers swept the aisles gathering tens of thousands of donated action figures, outdoor toys, ride-ons, dollhouses, board games, and more that were left behind from exhibitors.

The toys, valued at half a million dollars, are currently being sorted and will be sent to CASA for Children in foster care, TIF’s national partner, as well a dozen other New York charities. [Read more...]

Alex Brands Introduces More Than 350 New Products at NYTF 2016

AlexBrandsAlex Brands launched more than 350 products in spa, crafts and Do-It-Yourself (DIY), outdoor/active, STEM, infant/preschool categories at the North American International Toy Fair.

Spa, crafts, and DIY categories include Layer & Wear Watercolor Tattoos, the Sweet Scent Sprinkle Nails kit, and My Lites Custom Streaks to add fashion products for tweens. The outdoor/active category includes the Poof Tunnel Ball, Fling Flyer, the Ultra-Tek Cyclonic, and Stingray that add creativity to physical play.

The STEM category includes the Scientific Explorer Young Architect City Planner and CitiBlocs allowing kids to become urban planning skills. The infant and preschool categories include the Rouge Kaloo collection featuring a family animals, the new Janod collection, and a 300-piece puzzle the Giant World Map.

Alex Brands also expanded its licensed product offering with fresh new activities for Nickelodeon’s animated series Shimmer and Shine and Blaze and the Monster Machines. Alex Brands has also partnered with Universal Studios for the July 2016 animated movie release The Secret Life of Pets.

Patch Products Changes Name to PlayMonster

PlayMonsterPatchPatch Products has changed its corporate name to Play Monster and will introduce its new name for the first time at the North American International Toy Fair in New York City. The company says that the name change better reflects its commitment to provide play for all ages.

The new name is effective immediately and will begin being implemented across the company’s products and services this calendar year and forward. PlayMonster most recently acquired Roominate to increase its STEM offerings and will add products throughout the year, including My Fairy Garden.

Bandai America to Unveil Toy Line for Zag Heroez Series Miraculous

MiraculousBandai America will showcase its toy line for the new animated series Miraculous during the North American International Toy Fair from Feb. 13 to 16. The series’ first season premiered on Nickelodeon, having already debuted in France and Korea with consistent number one ratings.

Bandai will introduce an assortment of toys centered on aspirational action play, transformation and friendship. Targeted to girls ages 4-8, the Miraculous toy line is set to launch this fall at mass and specialty retailers across the globe. [Read more...]

TPF Toys Launches Splashlings

SplashlingsTPF Toys is making its U.S. debut with the introduction of Splashlings, a collectible mermaid-themed toy line, to coincide with the North American International Toy Fair and Play Fair. Midtown Comics Partners with Play Fair as Event’s Official Show Store

PlayFair2016logoPlay Fair is partnering with Midtown Comics to serve as the event’s Official Show Store and offer exhibitors a turnkey outlet to sell products. The Official Play Fair Show Store will be built as a 20-foot by 20-foot island booth close by the event entrance.
