Last Thursday, nearly 1,300 leaders from the toy and baby products industries came together at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City to celebrate the 2015 Toys “R” Us Children’s Fund Gala. During the evening, $4.6 million was raised for the Toys “R” Us Children’s Fund, a public charity affiliated with Toys “R” Us Inc., to aid in its mission to keep children safe and help them in times of need. The event was hosted by comedian Martin Short and featured a performance by Lenny Kravitz.
Heidi Klum, Babies “R” Us, and Operation Shower teamed up to shower 125 expectant military moms-to-be. The shower took place on March 4 at Universal Studios’ Globe Theatre in Los Angeles. The moms representing Navy and Marine bases throughout California received dozens of gifts including those from Klum’s Truly Scrumptious collection, which is available exclusively at Babies “R” Us and online. The attendees also participated in shower games and other activities.
Babies “R” Us will also partner with Operation Shower again this year to honor families of the U.S. armed forces to host baby showers for military wives. To kick off the third year of partnership, the Toys “R” Us Children’s Fund, a public charity affiliated with Toys “R” Us Inc, will provide a $100,000 grant to Operation Shower.
Babies “R” Us announced that it will continue its commitment to honor families of the U.S. armed forces through a collaboration with Operation Shower, an organization that hosts joyful baby showers for military wives as they experience the journey of pregnancy while their husbands are deployed. To kick off the second year of partnership, consisting of shower events and fundraising efforts, the Toys “R” Us Children’s Fund, a public charity affiliated with Toys “R” Us, Inc., has donated $100,000 to Operation Shower.
In the coming year, Babies “R” Us will once again leverage its dedicated microsite at Babiesrus.com/OperationShower as an online information and donation portal, where visitors can learn how to support this program and ensure that military moms-to-be receive basic essentials for their newborns. Since launching this digital destination last year, individuals, organizations, and businesses eager to support Operation Shower have donated items from the charity’s official Babies “R” Us Registry, which allows shoppers to purchase much-needed products for these expectant moms and have them sent directly to Operation Shower for use at events throughout the year.
