Kaboom! Secures Branded Retail Space Across Canada

Oct21.OctonautsDVDCollectionkaboom! Entertainment has secured dedicated retail space across all of Canada’s 125 Target branches for its Treehouse Presents releases. The exclusive spaces will launch November 5 and will host releases coming through the Treehouse Presents DVD label, jointly created by Corus and Phase 4 Films.

Brands, including OctonautsMy Big Big Friend, Franklin & Friends, Toopy & Binoo, Chuggington, and The Bernstain Bears will be included in Target’s first line of exclusive Movie Night packaging, and kaboom! will be creating downloadable activities, recipes, and games for each release.

Toys “R” Us Launches Family-Friendly Digital Entertainment Service

Toys “R” Us has launched Toys “R” Us Movies, a new family-friendly digital entertainment service with more than 4,000 movies and shows available with no subscription. Available on ToyrusMovies.com, users can purchase, download, and stream content on PC’s, Macs, and Adobe Flash enabled devices.

Toys “R” Us Movies includes content from entertainment companies such as 20th Century Fox, Anderson Digital, Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment, Lionsgate/Summit, Magnolia Pictures, NBCUniversal, Paramount Pictures, Phase 4 Films, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Starz Media, The Walt Disney Studios, and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. Users must be 18 years or older to register. Parents are provided with customizable parental controls to block age-inappropriate content.

The digital entertainment service offers new releases available for purchase nearly two weeks before the DVD release. The downloaded content will be stored in a library for future viewing. Toys “R” Us will launch the digital entertainment service on Blu-ray players, televisions, and tablets. A Toys “R” Us Movies app will also be available for tabeo  free at the tabeo App Store.

SMC Entertainment Group, Inc. Signs New Licensees For The Jungle Book

SMC Entertainment Group, Inc., an entertainment and brand management company and sister company to global consumer products manufacturer Sun-Mate Corporation, has finalized licensing agreements in the U.S. for the new high-definition television series, The Jungle Book, scheduled to debut on June 11 on Disney XD.

SMC has signed a slate of new U.S. licensees, including Phase 4 Films as the property’s home entertainment and Digital distribution partner; Isaac Morris as its master apparel partner; Komar for children’s sleepwear; Insights Editions for Young Readers Book series; Seasons USA for Halloween costumes; Nanco-Nancy Sales, Inc., for amusement plush and novelties; Pacific Play Tents for children’s play tents; Barnes & Noble for e-books; United States Playing Card Company for customized playing cards; and My Idol Pops for figural lollypops.

SMC acquired all North American Home Entertainment, Licensing and Merchandising rights, and Promotional rights for The Jungle Book CGI-animated television series, plus the one-hour tele-film from DQEI, the producers and rights holders of the series. SMC has also acquired The Jungle Book toy rights for Benelux, Australia, and New Zealand, along with licensing and merchandising rights for South Africa. SMC will be representing The Jungle Book at Licensing Show, at booth 3268, and is seeking partnerships to develop a comprehensive consumer products’ campaign across categories including toy, ELA’s, publishing, games and puzzles, gaming/interactive, apparel, footwear, accessories, back to school, party goods, food and beverage, arts and crafts, home furnishings, and more.
