Saban Brands has named Janet Hsu as its new CEO, effective August 17. As Saban Brands’ first CEO, Hsu will be responsible for overseeing the company’s portfolio of global entertainment properties, as well as being instrumental in acquiring additional brands and building new intellectual properties.
Saban Brands and Fisher-Price have teamed up for a new line of Imaginext products, inspired by the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The line will feature a range of figures, villains, weapons, Zords, and a giant Megazord. The Megazord will feature multiple levels of play, eight points of articulation, a disc launcher, ranger elevator, command center, and villain jail. All of the products will be available exclusively at Toys “R” Us in May, followed by a global rollout to additional retailer later in the year.
In addition, Saban Brands has partnered with Bendon Inc. for a Power Rangers Dino Charge product line of premium coloring activity books, stickers, puzzles, and more. The products will launch this month across multiple retailers including Hobby Lobby, Rite Aid, and Dollar Tree.
General Mills, in a partnership with Mega Bloks, is bringing back its free cereal box prizes. Customers can find customizable Mega Bloks cars in select General Mills brands of cereals, including Honey Nut Cheerios, Reese’s Puffs, Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms, Golden Grahams, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. The cars can be customized with the included Hello Kitty and Power Rangers sticker packs. Additionally, the cereal boxes can create a constructable cardboard jump pattern.
The Crayola line will include no-mess color wonder products, coloring pads and pages, giant coloring pages, interactive color-by-number activity sheets, and a variety of color and sticker sets based on the TV series.
The Power Rangers items are expected to launch next fall, starting with products themed around the upcoming season of Saban’s Power Rangers Dino Charge.
Nickelodeon Suites Resort (Nick Hotel) is inviting guests to join the fun of its annual Halloween Nick-or-Treat, and celebrate the scariest holiday of the year with slime, treats and a ghoulish good time. Starting on October 4, and continuing every weekend of the month, guests can dress in their favorite costume and collect treats from Nickelodeon characters at Nick-or-Treat stations around the resort.
During Nick-or-Treat, guests will enjoy other activities, including a Spooky Splash Bash at the Lagoon Pool where they can play Halloween-themed games, slide down one of seven water slides, and get slimed. Guests are encouraged to wear a costume during the festivities or borrow one from the hotel. Every child participating in Nick-or-Treat will receive a Power Rangers-themed trick-or-treat bag with toys, removable tattoos, and more.

Fans will see the all-new legendary Red Mighty Morphin Power Ranger at the 88th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this November. The Power Ranger’s debut at the parade will mark the first-ever Power Ranger balloon.
The parade will air nationwide on November 27 from 9 a.m. to noon in all time zones.
Jakks Pacific has renewed its licensing agreement with Saban Brands to produce Power Rangers Halloween costumes and accessories for kids and adults. In addition, the agreement has expanded to produce Hero Portal, a next generation system. Power Rangers Super Megaforce costumes and the Hero Portal system will hit the shelves nationwide this fall.
The acquisition advances Mattel’s global growth strategy of building upon its world-class portfolio of brands by expanding into two of the fastest-growing toy categories. Mega Brands is the No. 2 player in the $4 billion construction building sets category with its Mega Bloks brand, as well as a competitor in the $2 billion arts and crafts category.
Mattel’s portfolio of brands will complement Mega Brands’ flagship Mega Bloks brand and existing licensed brands, including Halo, Skylanders, Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, Power Rangers, Hello Kitty, and SpongeBob SquarePants. The acquisition will give Mattel the opportunity to broaden its relationship with its entertainment partners.
