Licensing Expo, the annual meeting place for the global licensing industry, occurred last week in Las Vegas. The exhibitors included a number of the top toy companies, which were on-hand showing off upcoming play products and making announcements about new licensing deals.

MakerBot, Pretty Ugly Partner for 3-D Printable Uglydoll Characters

MakerBot and Pretty UglyMakerBot and Pretty Ugly LLC have collaborated to make four Uglydoll characters 3-D printable on a MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3-D Printer. The content will be available on the MakerBot Digital Store for the Uglydoll characters Babo, Wage, Ice-Bat, and Ox, who are making their 3-D debut at the International Licensing Expo this week.

The characters are being introduced at T-pose characters, which are designed to be 3-D printed and fully poseable. Additional 3-D printables from the Uglydoll universe will follow, such as a bus to take the miniature Uglydoll characters on a summer vacation, four Uglydoll characters in dynamic stances, and 3-D printable environments for the Uglydolls to live in. All items will be released this summer on the MakerBot Digital Store.

Uglydoll Introduces The Wizard of Oz, Star Trek Product Lines

imagePretty Ugly LLC has teamed with CBS Consumer Products and Warner Bros. Consumer Products to launch new Uglydoll plush toys.

CBS will feature plush characters based on the Star Trek franchise. The line is set for release next year, will feature Wage as Captain James T. Kirk, Ox as first officer Spock, Ice-Bat as chief engineer Scotty, Babo as Doctor McCoy, and Tray as communications officer Uhura.

Warner Bros. is set to create plush toys based on The Wizard of OzThe whole Uglydoll crew–including Moxy, Wage, Jeero, Babo, and Ox–will dress as the iconic characters from the classic film. This series of dolls will be previewed at Licensing Expo this summer and will launch in stores in the fall.

Uglydoll Launches Android Plush in Google Store

Uglydoll.AndroidPretty Ugly, LLC and the creators of the popular Uglydoll brand have launched unique Android plush toys, which are available in the Google Store. The Uglydoll team’s collectible plush creations, Android Ox and Android Babo, can be found at the Google Store under the Fun and Android brand shop tabs. The toys are available in 11-inch plush and a 4-inch backpack clip accessory.

Uglydoll Collaborates with Universal Monsters for New Plush

Pretty Ugly, the official licensors of the Uglydoll brand, has partnered with Universal Partnerships and Licensing to develop a new series of Uglydoll plush dolls based on the Universal Monsters. The Universal Monsters series of dolls will make its retail debut Halloween this year.

Gund, a division of Enesco, will offer these co-branded characters, including Wedgehead as Frankenstein, Ice-Bat as Dracula, Ox as Wolfman, Tray as Bride of Frankenstein, Big Toe as Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Babo as Mummy.

The first series of plush dolls will launch this fall and will be available at retailers nationwide. Gund previewed these collaborative plush characters at the ASTRA show and will show them at the upcoming summer Gift Shows.

Sanrio and Pretty Ugly Partner for Hello Kitty Uglydolls

1225Sanrio Inc., the global lifestyle brand best known for Hello Kitty, has partnered with Pretty Ugly LLC, owner of Uglydoll, to create global, co-branded collaboration with Hello Kitty and Uglydoll characters. Uglydoll’s unique aesthetic, defining “ugly” as distinctive and unique, will be combined with the iconic style of Hello Kitty to create a selection of limited-edition collectibles.    

The Hello Kitty Uglydoll collaboration will make its official debut at San Diego Comic-Con, held July 18 to 21. The collection will include a set of limited edition plush by Gund, featuring Hello Kitty dressed as Uglydoll’s popular characters—Ox, Trunko, Ice-Bat, and Wage—as well as a set of vinyl figures by Funko. Additional product exclusive to Comic-Con will include t-shirts by Mighty Fine, iPhone cases by Uncommon, and a collectible pin set by PinUSA. Specific items from the collection will also be shown at Licensing Expo, held June 18 to 20 in Las Vegas, and will be available later this summer at select Sanrio boutique stores, Sanrio.com, Uglydolls.com, and specialty retailers.

Uglydoll Teams up with DC Comics for Superhero Toys and Accessories

Pretty Ugly, LLC and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, announced that they have entered into a co-branded 1209collaboration with DC Comics Super Heroes and Uglydoll characters. Gund, a division of Enesco, will produce a diverse range of colorful and collectible superhero plush based on the DC Comics and Uglydoll character universes. The initial release this fall will be a trio that includes two versions of Ice-Bat as Batman and Babo as Superman.

The plush characters will be offered at retail and will be available through Diamond Comics and a broad range of retailers. Funko is also set to offer a collection of vinyl figures based on the DC Comics and Uglydoll plush collaboration during the holiday season this year. Additional categories of merchandise and collaborative characters will be announced in the coming months.

Gund will be previewing their new collaborative plush merchandise at the summer Gift Shows and ASTRA show in June. Diamond Comics will be exhibiting at San Diego Comic-Con in July and in their infamous Previews catalog. Funko and others will launch merchandise in time for the holiday season.
