Warner Bros. Consumer Products Unveils Worldwide Licensing Program for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
Warner Bros. Consumer Products has teamed up with their global licensees to create an array of offerings inspired by the second film of The Hobbit Trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM). Global licensees include partners across multiple categories, including toys, apparel, and publishing.
Co-master toy licensees The Bridge Direct and Vivid Group will offer an assortment of detailed action figures, collector’s figures, and role play accessories that bring the films’ characters and epic quests to life. Also supporting the film are Lego with adventure-filled building sets, physical effects house Weta Workshop with replicas based off of those Weta created for the film, The Noble Collection with high-end collectibles, Ravensburger with puzzles, HarperCollins Publishers with detailed companion books, Bioworld with apparel for all ages, and Rubies Costume Co with costumes, accessories and dress-up clothes, among others. Products inspired by the film will be available at retailers worldwide, with select offerings also available at HobbitShop.com.

Based on The Walking Dead comic from Robert Kirkman, the game challenges players to fight for their own property and avoid zombies at all costs. Monopoly: The Walking Dead Survival Edition delivers classic Monopoly wheeling and dealing game play—but this time, players must fight for their survival. Everything about the game screams “WALKERS!” Properties correspond with the series landmarks, such as the prison cells, the Greene Family farm house, and Woodbury, while game tokens resemble key items from the series such as Rick’s sheriff hat, a bucket of body parts, the telephone, Dale’s R.V. (RIP Dale!), the Katana (aka Michonne’s awesome sword), and Lucille (aka a ridiculously effective baseball bat wrapped with barbed wire). Instead of using money to purchase property, players must trade essential supplies, such as food, ammo, and fuel to gain more territory on the board or to place a guard tower or wall (instead of the standard houses and hotels) to secure their safe haven from Walker attacks. Nickelodeon has signed a licensing deal with Rubie’s Costume Co. to develop and produce a line of Halloween costumes, accessories, and dress up products inspired by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.
The new line will target kids, adults, and pets. The Costume Collection features Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, Splinter, April O’Neil, and The Foot Clan.
Warner Bros. Warner Bros. Consumer Products Unveils Worldwide Licensing Program for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Rubie’s Costume Company Inc., has received the 2011 Monster High North America Rookie Licensee of the year award from Mattel, the worldwide leader in design and marketing of toys and family products.
As one of the most successful children’s licenses of 2011, characters from the Monster High Costume Collection include Frankie Stein, Lagoona Blue, Cleo de Nile, Clawdeen Wolf and Draculaura. Available in children’s, tween and new adult sizes, each character comes to life with unique designs, intricate detailing and coordinating accessories. In addition to the colorful costumes, the line also includes wigs and make up kits.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products has announced that the last installment of the best-selling Harry Potter film franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2, will be ushered in with a wide array of merchandising products for fans of all ages. The movie hits theaters nationwide Friday.
Lego has released a variety of play sets that feature locations and scenes from the films, including Hogwarts, The Forbidden Forest, and the Knight Bus. The Noble Collection will offer intricately crafted wands and other artifacts replicated from the series. Additional global licensees include NECA, Tomy, Panini, DeAgostini, Hasbro, Rubie’s Costume Co., Artbox Entertainment, Gentle Giant, Bioworld Merchandising Inc., Hallmark, Mead, Tonner Doll, and Jelly Belly Candy Company, which will re-release its 20-flavor collection of Bertie Bott’s Every-Flavour Beans. Rubie’s Costume Co., Inc. has obtained the license to create products for preschool property Chuggington. The CGI-animated series debuted in the U.S. in January and airs daily on Disney Channel’s Playhouse Disney programming block. Each episode has an entertaining storyline that also teaches social readiness lessons.
