Dirk Engehausen Appointed New CEO of Schleich Group

SchleichlogoDirk Engehausen has been appointed CEO of the Schleich Group. Dr. Thomas van Kaldenkerken will relinquish his role as CEO, and together with Dr. Konrad Nilbers, will co-chair the advisory board for the Schleich Group.

Engehausen has been a member of the advisory board since mid-2014, and brings extensive experiences from his 20-year career with Lego, where he played a major role in the strategic repositioning of the company. Engehausen intends to implement and further develop the strategic and operative realignment of the company initiated by van Kaldenkerken.

The operations of Schleich USA Inc. will continue to be under the leadership and direction of Sören Hjorth, Schleich USA president, from Schleich’s facility in Charlotte, N.C.

TIF Contributes More Than $300,000 in Toys to TODAY Show Gift Drive

toyindustryMore than 30,000 children in need nationwide will receive brand new toys and games this holiday season, thanks to generous toy companies that partnered with the Toy Industry Foundation (TIF) to participate in the TODAY Show Holiday Gift Drive.

TIF appeared on the TODAY Show’s November 26 episode to celebrate the toy industry’s contribution to the gift drive, benefiting dozens of charities across the country. The companies pitched in to donate more than $300,000 worth of toys for families facing financial hardships and children who are sick, living in domestic violence shelters, residing on military bases, or otherwise in need.

The Foundation thanked the following companies: Cartamundi USA, Children of America Dolls, Creations By You, Do-a-Dot Art, Green Toys,
Griddly Games, International Arrivals, International Playthings, Little Pim, McNeill Designs, Orb Factory, Safari Ltd., Savvi, Schleich USA, Smart Gear, Smart Toys and Games, ThinkFun, Ukloo Kids, VTech, WowWee USA, and Wyla, Inc.

TIF has participated in the TODAY Show Gift Drive for the past four years, providing a total of 88,000 toys (valued at more than $900,000).

German Toy Maker Schleich Teams Up with Levine Children’s Hospital

Schleich Toy Donation 4[1]Schleich USA Inc., the German-based creator of soft plastic figurines and collectibles, has formed a partnership with Levine Children’s Hospital and has donated 500 toys to the hospital.

The Schleich USA Inc. headquarters and distribution center recently relocated to Charlotte, N.C. from Ottawa, Ontario Canada and is located in 125,000 square feet of office space at 10000 Twin Lakes Parkway in North Charlotte. With more than 4,000 employees worldwide, Schleich produces more than 50 million figurines a year. What started out as comic figurines in the 1950s including The Smurfs, Snoopy, and The Muppet Show characters has expanded to include animals.
