Scholastic Media Inks New Deals For Clifford’s 50th Anniversary

Scholastic Media announces new partnerships for Clifford’s 50th Anniversary. American Home and Textiles will offer Clifford-themed infant and toddle bedding and bath products as well as hooded towels, beach towels, beach mats, hooded ponchos, and terry canvas tote bags. PBS Kids To Premiere New Clifford Film

On December 14, PBS Kids will premiere the animated film Clifford Really Big Movie to celebrate Clifford’s 50th Anniversary. Warner Brothers originally released the film in 2004. It featured John Ritter as the voice of Clifford as well as Wayne Brady, Jenna Elfman, and John Goodman. The new animated film by Scholastic Entertainment will feature the original cast as well as Grey Delisle, Jess Harnell, Kel Mitchell, Judge Reinhold, Kath Soucie, Cree Summer, and Wilmer Valderrama. The new movie takes viewers on Clifford’s cross-country adventure with characters such as Cleo, T-Bone, and an entirely new cast of characters.


The Clifford BE BIG Campaign Announces Winners of Community Contest

Scholastic Media and HandsOn Network announced the winners of the fourth annual Be BIG In Your Community Contest. The contest was part of Clifford The Big Red Dog BE Big! campaign. Participants of all ages were encouraged to submit an idea that demonstrates Clifford’s Big Ideas which include Share, Help Others, Be kind, Be responsible, Play Fair, Be a Good Friend, Believe in Yourself, Have Respect, Work Together, and Be Truthful. The contestants were judged on their ideas based on feasibility, creativity, sustainability and impact.

The grand-prize of $5,000 was awarded to Zachary Certner from Morristown, New Jersey. The 16-year-old came up with the idea to provide special needs children with athletic and social programming. The program, Special Needs Athletic Programs (SNAP), also provides sensitivity training to schools in New Jersey. Scholastic Media Announces “The Magic School Bus: Dino Shuffle” App

Back-to-school season is right around the corner and Scholastic Media
is bringing its Magic School Bus to the Leapfrog
App Center for the very first time.  The Magic School Bus: Dino
Shuffle app, for the Leapfrog LeapPad, will be available for
download in the LeapFrog App Center this August.

Players will be able to shuffle through a Dino Deck compiled by
everyone’s favorite science teacher, Ms. Frizzle, to learn hundreds of
interesting dino facts, including size, diet, speed, and more.
Children can then test their dino knowledge in two exciting,
fast-paced, and highly replayable games.

Scholastic Celebrates 50 Big Years of Clifford the Big Red Dog

2012-2013 School Year Celebration Includes New Publishing, Apps, Live Classroom Event,  Birthday Card Campaign, National Sweepstakes, Broadcast Event, New Products, and Promotional Partners

Scholastic Media, a division of Scholastic Inc., the global children’s publishing, education and media company, announced that it will kick off the 50th anniversary celebration of Clifford the Big Red Dog on September 24th– in conjunction with the publication of Norman Bridwell’s Clifford Collection and the “Biggest Birthday Party Ever” at Scholastic headquarters in New York City, a live event that will be streamed to classrooms nationwide.

The campaign will span the school year and include the launch of new publishing, a birthday card campaign, and a national sweepstakes leading up to Clifford’s official birthday on February 14. Since the first Clifford book was published in 1963, the property has expanded to include 126 million books in print and an Emmy Award-winning television series, currently in its twelfth consecutive season on PBS Kids in the U.S.; the show has been sold to 30 countries in 12 languages worldwide.

Highlights of the Clifford 50th Anniversary year include:

“Biggest Birthday Party Ever” Kick Off Event/Live Classroom Webcast
On September 24 at 10:00 a.m., Scholastic will host Clifford’s Biggest Birthday Party Ever—a live celebration at Scholastic’s New York City headquarters and webcast to classrooms nationwide. Hundreds of children will gather to sing Happy Birthday to Clifford, and Norman Bridwell will be on hand for a big reveal on the façade of the company’s SoHo building.

Scholastic Launches Compilation Packs for Nintendo

Scholastic Media, a division of Scholastic, Inc., announced the release of three compilation game packs for Nintendo’s gaming platforms: I Spy Two Game Pack for Wii, and I Spy Two Game Pack and Smart Games for Kids Two Game Pack for Nintendo DS. Each game pack includes bestselling titles from Scholastic Media’s interactive portfolio and will be available this fall.

The I Spy Two Game Pack for Nintendo DS includes two award-winning titles from the I SPY franchise: I Spy Fun House and I Spy Universe. Together, the games feature more than 50 riddles and more than 200 levels of play for seek-and-find fans of all ages. To escape the topsy-turvy world in I SPY Fun House, players must earn tickets by completing games, riddles, and the Prize Popper challenge. I SPY Universe takes players on a different kind of puzzle-solving adventure with a trip through the I SPY cosmos. Players unlock new planets and explore the universe while searching for more than 400 objects in 36 I SPY riddles and playing six brain-teasing games.

I Spy enthusiasts can continue the brain-teasing fun with more than 70 riddles and more than 60 interactive mini-games in the I Spy Two Game Pack for Wii, which includes Ultimate I Spy and I Spy Spooky Mansion. Ultimate I Spy takes players through a wonderland where they search above and below objects to solve riddles, puzzles, and mini games. I Spy Spooky Mansion offers thrills and chills with a trip through a haunted mansion.

Also for Nintendo DS is the Smart Game for Kids Two Game Pack, which features the My Amusement Park and Digging for Dinosaurs DS games. Kids run their own entertainment venue in My Amusement Park. Players can choose from four themed building rides, food venues, and special attractions in their park. Digging for Dinosaurs challenges players with a variety of mini-games that range from simulated paleontological digs to dinosaur battles, all while learning facts about 21 different prehistoric species.

Clifford Musical Kicks Off 50-City Tour

“Clifford The Big Red Dog Live! A BIG Family Musical” kicked off earlier this month in Vermont and Connecticut. The 50-city live touring show includes both school and public performances. The new musical adventure teaches audience members that “it only takes a little to be big.” Through laughter, songs, and dancing, the characters and audience learn about Clifford’s Big Ideas (share, play fair, have respect, work together, be responsible, be truthful, be kind, help others, believe in yourself, and be a good friend) from the PBS Kids series Clifford the Big Red Dog. The production is directed by Mark Fleischer and produced by Mills Entertainment, in cooperation with Scholastic Media. The Brad Simon Organization serves as the exclusive booking agency for the production.

Scholastic Media Launches I Spy Super Challenger

Get ready to spy with your little eye a new title in the I Spy series. Scholastic Media, a division of Scholastic, Inc., announced the release of I Spy Super Challenger for LeapFrog’s Leapster Explorer. This will be the third title in the series.

I Spy Super Challenger, geared towards kids ages 5-9, combines the popular I Spy photographs and riddles with arcade-style games. Players have to solve 50 different I Spy riddles across 20 different photographic scenes.

In addition to these puzzles, I Spy Super Challenger includes four games, in which players race against the clock to test their thinking, matching, memory, and math skills—in the end cracking I Spy puzzles. As new levels of the game are unlocked, the difficulty of the puzzles increase.

The other games in the I Spy series are I Spy Challenger and I Spy Treasure Hunt. The game retails for $24.99.

Kick Off Summer Reading with WordGirl

“WordGirl’s Ludicrously Literate Library Week,” a special weeklong programming event airing July 11-15 on PBS Kids Go!, will have the beloved heroine, picked as this year’s “Ambassador of Summer Reading,” pitted against various vocabulary villains.

Scholastic Media, a division of Scholastic Inc., announced that in support of this five-day television festival celebrating reading and books, a new section will open on PBSKIDSGO.org where fans can answer trivia questions to unlock a secret spaceship with loads of exclusive content.

This is the second time that WordGirl is serving as the national Ambassador of Summer Reading. The special weeklong event will kick off PBS Kids’ continuing programming that promotes summer reading.
