Two New Magic School Bus DVDs Out This Summer

94Ms. Frizzle and the Magic School Bus are set to release two all new DVDs—The Magic School Bus: Revving Up and The Magic School Bus: In A Pickle.

The Magic School Bus: Revving Up will feature 12 never-before-available episodes. Each of the three discs in the set—”Under Construction,” “Getting Energized,” and “Cracks a Yolk”—contain three new episodes running the gamut from computers and electricity to city critters and desert adaptation. Also, each DVD also contains a special bonus episode adding up to more than four-and-a-half hours.

Viewers who hop aboard the bus for The Magic School Bus: In A Pickle find out about peculiar smells across four never-before-released episodes including the title episode about microbes, “Meets Molly Cule,” “Makes a Stink” about smell, and “Meets the Rot Squad,” which covers decomposition.

The DVDs will be available July 30.

9 Story Entertainment Signs Publishing Deal with Scholastic for Almost Naked Animals

9 Story Entertainment and Scholastic have signed a publishing deal for the animated children’s comedy series Almost Naked Animals. The Licensing Shop brokered the deal. Scholastic will publish comic readers, joke books, chapter books, e-books, and digital interactive story books featuring the quirky characters and their funny escapades for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico in English and Spanish. The English chapter book and joke book will launch this month in the U.S. and Canada.

Almost Naked Animals is seen in the U.S. on Cartoon Network and in Canada on YTV and VRAK, in addition to airing on leading international children’s channels around the world. Almost Naked Animals’ robust licensing program includes home entertainment, toys and apparel, an online super game, an e-commerce store, and social networking partnerships.

LeapFrog Launches New Developer Program with Exclusive Games Produced by Scholastic

LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc., has announced a new program to allow external developers to create interactive games and apps for its learning platforms. This new program will start with the release of exclusive interactive games from Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education, and media company. Clifford’s Rhyme Race and The Magic School Bus Dino Shuffle were developed and produced by Scholastic solely for LeapFrog and are now available for purchase in the “Games” section of the LeapFrog App Center for the kids’ learning tablets, LeapPad1 andLeapPad2, and learning video game systems, Leapster Explorer and LeapsterGS. Scholastic Partners with Twin Sisters For New Storia Content

Scholastic has announced an agreement with Twin Sisters Productions to offer a selection of musical and non-fiction books on Storia, the e-Reading app for kids. Books from Twin Sisters will be available on Storia, through Scholastic Book Clubs, and at Scholastic Book Fairs next year. Storia is available for free download on PC, iPad, and select Android devices.

Scholastic Launches “Clifford BIG Birthday” App

Scholastic recently launched the Clifford BIG Birthday app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Emily Elizabeth invites players to join her in creating a surprise birthday party for Clifford. Players can prepare for the celebration by decorating the cake, hanging streamers, choosing balloons, and picking out presents for Clifford. The app features interactive games that help children with spelling, word families, and sight words. Text and instructions are read out loud to help both readers and non-readers. Additionally, parents are provided with educational information that allows them to look at suggestions on how to expand learning outside of the game for their children. Storia to Offer Titles from Albert Whitman & Company

Scholastic has announced an agreement with Albert Whitman & Company to offer a selection of their books on Storia, the eReading app for kids. A collection of books from Albert Whitman & Company will be available on Storia beginning next spring.

Available for free download on PC, iPad, or Android tablets (with more platforms to come later this fall), the Storia eReading app, is specially designed to captivate kids while helping them become better readers. Storia offers more than 2,000 titles for kids from toddlers through teens with more content being added weekly.

Among the Albert Whitman & Company titles to be offered on Storia are When I Feel Angry (written by Cornelia Maude Spelman, illustrated by Kathy Parkinson), Lulu and the Duck in the Park (written by Hilary McKay, illustrated by Priscilla Lamont), A Kiss Means I Love You (written by Kathryn Madeline Allen, photographs by Eric Futran), and Miss Fox’s Class Goes Green (written by Eileen Spinelli, illustrated by Anne Kennedy).

Scholastic Launches Promotions for Infinity Ring

Scholastic will launch Infinity Ring, a new multi-platform time travel adventure series for children ages 8-12, on August 28 in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand with Book 1: A Mutiny in Time by author James Dashner. Infinity Ring combines books, an interactive “Hystorian’s Guide” map, and an online game experience where readers travel back in time to “fix” history.

Now through August 27, Scholastic has unlocked a special advance sneak peak of the action-packed 3-D Infinity Ring online game. Kids who play and register online will earn a special “Pioneer Medal,” a digital reward for being an early adopter of the online game. The full game site experience launches August 28. The global promotional campaign kicks off in the U.S. with comprehensive television, online, and print advertising throughout the fall season, as well as a national “Infinity Ring Rewrite History” classroom writing contest sponsored by Scholastic Book Clubs. The winning classroom will get a visit from Infinity Ring author and series architect James Dashner. The campaign also includes a national multi-city publicity tour featuring James Dashner who will make appearances in schools, bookstores, and libraries throughout the U.S.

The Magic School Bus Makes Its Way to DVD

This summer, Scholastic and New Video will re-launch The Magic School Bus on DVD. This year marks the 25th anniversary for the Emmy Award-winning series.

On July 31, New Video will release The Magic School Bus: The Complete Series, which features 52 episodes and includes activities and brain busters for parents and kids. This set also features a 3-D lenticular cover; a guide for kids with teasers, trivia, and experiments; and a parents’ guide with lessons and learning options.

Released just in time for Back to School activities will be four Magic School Bus singles, The Human Body, Super Star Power, Takes a Dive, and Takes Flight. Also available will be two three-packs from the series, Blast Off! From Sea to Space and Field Trip Fun and Games, both of which include episodes that have never been released on DVD.

New Video will support the brand with a national marketing and publicity campaign, which includes trade media outlets, partnerships with licensees and science foundations, paid online and social media advertising, outreach to parenting press, mommy bloggers, parenting organizations and play in the top 10 radio markets, and more. The campaign is designed to generate several million consumer impressions this summer and fall.

Scholastic Media Launches The Magic School Bus LeapFrog Game

Scholastic Media announced a new addition to its global children’s science franchise The Magic School Bus with the release of The Magic School Bus: Oceans for LeapFrog’s award-winning LeapPad and Leapster Explorer; the cartridge game will be available for retail in August for $25. LeapFrog will also have The Magic School Bus: Dino Shuffle app available for download in the LeapFrog App Center for $7.50.

Designed for children ages 5-8, The Magic School Bus: Oceans teaches young gamers hundreds of facts about ocean life through trivia challenges and seven games. Players can earn badges by performing well in games or trivia challenges, and can redeem these badges for additional features—like decorations for the bus or a customized Magic School Bus driver’s license—through the LeapFrog Connect Application.

Based on the best-selling Scholastic book series written by Joanna Cole and illustrated by Bruce Degen, The Magic School Bus television series has been broadcast in more than 35 countries in 16 languages. With more than 60 million books in print, the brand has won many industry awards, including two Emmys for Lily Tomlin’s portrayal of Ms. Frizzle in the TV series, five CINE Golden Eagles, and an Annenberg Public Policy Center Award.

Scholastic Releases Third Volume of Storybook Treasures DVDs

Following the first two installments in the Scholastic Storybook Treasures’ My First Collection DVD series comes another DVD set for preschoolers and their families: My First Collection: Volume 3 Featuring Chicken Little. Featuring 12 stories on three discs, the set includes three new stories: “Chicken Little,” “Scaredy Squirrel,” and “Katie Loves the Kittens.”

The three DVDs in My First Collection: Volume 3 include Scholastic’s innovative, read-along function and features narrators such as Sean Hayes, John Lithgow, and Randy Travis.
