Set for release on Oct. 16, the new game allows kids to create the Skylanders of their dreams. When kids place the new Creation Crystal onto the Portal of Power, they can prepare to customize a completely unique Skylander on-screen. Kids can mix and match body parts and accessories, and give their Skylander its own name, powers, abilities, catchphrases, musical themes, and more. The one-of-a-kind Skylander will then be saved onto the Creation Crystal, so players can take it with them and play with their creation wherenever they go. There will be one Creation Crystal for each Skylanders element. Skylanders and Autism Speaks have partnered for Autism Awareness Month and will release limited edition toys to raise awareness for the cause. Leading into World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, the collaboration invites fans to “Light it up Blue” to support kids and families worldwide.
The “Power Blue” Skylanders SuperChargers toys are blue and white to reflect Autism Speaks’ official colors. The new series will feature Splat, Trigger Happy, and their Supercharged Vehicles Splatter Splasher and Gold Rusher, which will appear in the game in blue and white colors. This Sunday, Skylanders SuperChargers, from Activision Publishing Inc., will arrive at North American retailers. The new game features Turbo Charge Donkey Kong and Hammer Slam Bowser, two of Nintendo’s iconic characters, re-imagined as Skylanders for Wii U system starter packs, as well as in Skylanders SuperChargers Racing Starter Packs for the Nintendo Wii and 3DS systems.
Skylanders is the official partner of Max Chilton for the season finale of Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, part of the Mazda Road to Indy. The partnership puts a focus on one of Skylanders SuperChargers’ key game play features: racing. A 24-year-old former Formula 1 driver and fan of the Skylanders franchise, Chilton will race the tracks of Laguna Seca in a Skylanders supercharged-themed race car on September 12 to 13.
Activision Publishing Inc. will launch a mobile card battle game, Skylanders Battlecast, which brings cards to life through a free-to-play mobile adventure set within the Skylanders universe. The game offers aspects ranging from collectability to strategic card combat, online PvP, and a single-player campaign. Players can create a team of their favorite heroes and master strategic card combinations.
On Tuesday, Activision Blizzard Inc. announced better-than-expected financial results for the second quarter. For the quarter ended June 30, Activision Blizzard’s GAAP net revenues were $1.04 billion, as compared with $970 million for the second quarter of last year. On a non-GAAP basis, the company’s net revenues were $759 million, as compared with $658 million for the second quarter of last year.
Activision Publishing Inc. will unveil the new Skylanders SuperChargers Dark Edition at Comic-Con International: San Diego, and attendees will be among the first consumers to play the game with dark versions of the Starter Pack characters. They include Dark Turbo Charge Donkey Kong with the Dark Barrel Blaster land vehicle, Dark Hammer Slam Bowser with the Dark Clown Cruiser sky vehicle, and Stealth Elf in a new Dark version.
This past Tuesday started out innocently enough. We were monitoring the news out of Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) when the announcement broke: As part of an agreement between Disney Interactive, Lucasfilm, and Sony, this fall will see the arrival of a special version of the upcoming Disney Infinity 3.0. The limited-edition Star Wars Saga Starter Pack will offer fans the chance to play as Boba Fett, the popular bounty hunter from the Star Wars movies. It will also allow players access to a much-anticipated Disney Infinity Play Set one month before it arrives on shelves, and even more importantly—at least, for the purposes of this commentary—the deal is only available for Sony’s PlayStation system.
