Activision Publishing Inc. will launch a mobile card battle game, Skylanders Battlecast, which brings cards to life through a free-to-play mobile adventure set within the Skylanders universe. The game offers aspects ranging from collectability to strategic card combat, online PvP, and a single-player campaign. Players can create a team of their favorite heroes and master strategic card combinations.
On Tuesday, Activision Blizzard Inc. announced better-than-expected financial results for the second quarter. For the quarter ended June 30, Activision Blizzard’s GAAP net revenues were $1.04 billion, as compared with $970 million for the second quarter of last year. On a non-GAAP basis, the company’s net revenues were $759 million, as compared with $658 million for the second quarter of last year.
Activision Publishing Inc. will unveil the new Skylanders SuperChargers Dark Edition at Comic-Con International: San Diego, and attendees will be among the first consumers to play the game with dark versions of the Starter Pack characters. They include Dark Turbo Charge Donkey Kong with the Dark Barrel Blaster land vehicle, Dark Hammer Slam Bowser with the Dark Clown Cruiser sky vehicle, and Stealth Elf in a new Dark version.

It will also allow players access to a much-anticipated Disney Infinity Play Set one month before it arrives on shelves, and even more importantly—at least, for the purposes of this commentary—the deal is only available for Sony’s PlayStation system.
Activision Publishing Inc. and Nintendo have collaborated to introduce two of Nintendo’s iconic characters, Donkey Kong and Bowser, as guest stars in Skylanders SuperChargers. The characters will be available exclusively in Skylanders SuperChargers Starter Packs for the Wii U, Wii, and Nintendo 3DS family of systems, available now for pre-order. E3 2015 attendees were the first to get their hands on the characters and specially created vehicles.
Activision Publishing has created a comprehensive global kids licensing program for Skylanders this year. According to “Interactive Gaming Toys,” the latest report from The NPD Group, 70 percent of parents in the U.S. are familiar with Interactive Gaming Toys (IGT), also known as Toys to Life. As reported by Liam Callahan, industry analyst, The NPD Group, 40 percent state that they own at least one franchise, and 41 percent of those who own an IGT indicate they own more than one franchise.
