Spin Master Is Revving Up for Monster Trucks

MonsterTrucks.logoParamount Licensing has agreed to a master toy license deal with Spin Master Ltd. for next summer’s film Monster Trucks. It marks the first licensee partnership in support of the live action film, which is based on an original concept by Paramount and directed by Chris Wedge.

Spin Master will develop an extensive line up of vehicle-based products that will launch alongside the film.

“This line will be a major presence at retail and a cornerstone of our licensing program across all major categories,” said LeeAnne Stables, president of consumer products and head of Paramount’s marketing partnerships.

Spin Master Launches Paw Patrol Toy Line Exclusively at Toys “R” Us

PawPatrolPaw Patrol is headed to Toys “R” Us stores nationwide and online at toysrus.com on May 18. Developed by Spin Master Ltd., Paw Patrol is the No. 1 rated preschool series and airs weekdays on Nickelodeon. Throughout June, Toys “R” Us will be the only retailer to offer the new preschool line of plush, vehicles, figures, and more based on the TV show.

The new product range includes a number of collectible items for kids ages 3 and up.

The Action Pack Pup with Badge figure comes with a push-button transforming backpack and a kid-sized, snap-on role-play badge.

Paw Patrol Racers each include a pup or a figure molded inside that hero’s signature vehicle. [Read more...]

Spin Master Sues Two Chinese Manufacturers for Patent and Copyright Infringement

logo_spinmasterSpin Master Ltd. has filed civil lawsuits against two Chinese manufacturers with the Shantou Intermediate People’s Court. Spin Master seeks to recover damages and enjoin Shantou Chenghai Hui Ying Toy Factory (Hui Ying) and Shantou Chenghai Hua Cai Ke Yi Industry and Trade Co. Ltd. (Hua Cai) from further manufacturing what Spin Master alleges are knock-offs of Spin Master’s best selling Flutterbye Flying Fairy.

The law suits claim infringement of both Spin Master’s registered copyright and utility model patent. The alleged counterfeits are sold under the names Beautiful Flying Fairy/BaoNiu Flying Fairy and Flower Fairy.

Through online monitoring and administrative enforcement, Spin Master has been successful in shutting down more than 100 web sites that were attempting to sell knock-off versions of Flutterbye Flying Fairy into the global marketplace over the Internet. Many of these websites were found to be selling product manufactured by Hui Ying and Hua Cai.

Spin Master Ltd. Launches Tenkai Knights Gaming App

TenkaiKnightsSpin Master Ltd. has released, Tenkai Knights Battle for Quarton, a free mobile gaming app based on the hit kids’ TV series, Tenkai Knights. The new game-based app is available for download to iOS devices in the App Store.

Players tap and swipe to help their favorite Tenkai warriors to defeat the evil Vilius and his corrupted army to save the planet Quarton. Developed by Game Pill, the app features all four Tenkai Knights as they race through four different levels.

The Year’s Most Outstanding Toys and Games Honored at TOTY Awards

Rainbow LoomOn February 15, the eve of American International Toy Fair, hundreds of toy executives and industry guests gathered at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City for the 14th Annual Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards and Toy Industry Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Rainbow Loom, from Choon’s Design LLC, won Toy of the Year as well as prizes in three additional categories, while GoldieBlox and the Spinning Machine, from GoldieBlox Inc., took home the People’s Choice award by pulling in the most online votes from consumers.

Ionix: These construction bricks shape-shift and change to become mini figures, action figures, weapons, gear, gadgets, and more. They also snap together with other leading construction systems.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 by Ionix: Kids can shape-shift and build their favorite dragons with new Ionix bricks, and recreate the incredible adventures of Toothless, Hiccup, and all of their friends as they battle against new foes and other threats to their homes on Berk.

Pokémon by Ionix: Ionix bricks bring favorite Pokémon characters like Pikachu, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, and more to life.

Maddy: Spin Master’s newest interactive doll, Maddy, is a talking, moving, “thinking” animated toy. Maddy’s glasses are a pair of high-resolution LED screens that function as her eyes, but will also play short animations, and can even be used to play mini games. Kids can download the free companion app to call and text their Maddy, play games with her, and discover some of her hidden features.

Paw Patrol: Based on a top-rated preschool series airing every weekday on Nickelodeon, this new toy line features lovable pups, cool vehicles, and magical transformations.

Zoomer Dino Boomer: This new guard dino runs around on two feet, chomping and whipping his tail. Kids can play with him in autonomous mode via the sensors in his nose, or pick up the control pod to send him on the attack. Dino also has a softer side, protecting his friends and sometimes even busting a dance move.

Spin Master Launches Tech Deck for iOS and Android

TechDeckSpin Master Ltd. has released Tech Deck, a mobile video game based on its popular line of finely crafted fingerboards for iOS and Android. Tech Deck, developed by Free Range Games, is a free-to-play skateboarding title that combines the immersive thrill and excitement of pulling off perilous feats with the style and finesse of street skating.

Tech Deck features fast-paced, tap, hold, and slide mechanics that challenge players to chain together combos, grinds, aerials, and holds. The title also includes a roster of upgradable skaters to choose from as well as local legends. More than 100 officially licensed decks are represented, and Tech Deck owners can use their mobile devices to scan some of their real-life collections into the game and use them to skate.

Tech Deck is available to download for free in the App Store and on Google Play.

Spin Master Acquires Meccano

logo_spinmasterSpin Master Ltd. is transforming its organization through recent acquisitions. After having acquired Spy Gear and Perplexus, Spin Master has also acquired Meccano (known as Erector Set in the U.S.), the toy construction brand with a 112-year history. In the acquisition process, the decision was made to retain Meccano’s manufacturing base and industrial facilities, located in Calais, France, to optimize serviceability to European markets.

Spin Master is strategically focused on extensions to many of its toy lines through the creation of entertainment properties, companion applications, games, and digital experiences that are suited for changing consumer play patterns.

Spin Master Ltd., McDonald’s Team Up to bring Zoobles back to Happy Meals

Spin Master Ltd. has teamed up with McDonald’s to bring Zoobles back into the McDonald’s Happy Meal line-up. After an initial global launch of the Zoobles Happy Meal campaign last year, Spin Master and McDonald’s have launched an international campaign that will run in more than 55 countries around the world this year. McDonald’s guests can now rediscover Zoobles in all participating McDonald’s restaurants.

Zoobles are the breakaway collectible small doll toy for girls, featuring hundreds of characters that spring to life and transform when placed on their “Happitat.” Throughout the year, new characters and playsets will be added to the line-up.

Liv Dolls Featured in Happy Meals

Following last month’s successful Zoobles Happy Meal Campaign, Spin Master, Ltd. has once again teamed up with McDonald’s to present the Liv Happy Meal Campaign, running now through July 7.

Miniature Liv characters Daniela, Sophie, Katie, Alexis, and Hayden, plus three styling heads, are available now at participating McDonald’s across North America. Both the Liv and Zoobles Happy Meal Campaigns are scheduled to hit international markets later this year and in 2012.
