Nintendo Reports Record-Setting 3DS Game Sales in 2013

Jan13.NintendoNintendo has sold a record amount of Nintendo 3DS games in 2013 and is set to release four new games early this year to take advantage of this trend. Last year, more than 16 million combined packaged and digital Nintendo 3DS games were sold, topping 2012 sales by 45 percent. Lifetime hardware sales in the U.S. for the Nintendo 3DS family of portable systems, including the Nintendo 3DS XL and Nintendo 2DS, passed 11.5 million.

Yoshi’s New Island will launch on March 14 in stores and in the Nintendo eShop, where Yoshi will reunite with Baby Mario to help him to safety. Disney Magical World will feature dozens of Disney characters in Disney-themed worlds, launching in stores and in the Nintendo eShop on April 11. A free demo of Square Enix’s role-playing game Bravely Default is now available exclusively in the Nintendo eShop and the full version will be available for purchase in stores and the Nintendo eShop on February 7. Lastly, the final installment of the second Professor Layton trilogy will launch on February 28 in stores and the Nintendo eShop.

Square Enix Announces Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix

Kingdom HeartsSquare Enix Inc., the publisher of Square Enix interactive entertainment products in the Americas, has officially begun development on Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix. A follow up to the recently released Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, the title is slated for release next year.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix is a fully remastered HD compilation of the Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix for PlayStation 2 and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix for PSP. Both were previously exclusive to the Japanese market, and will be available for the first time in the Americas for PlayStation 3.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix leads into the anticipated Kingdom Hearts III, which is set to be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

With the impending release of the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One, it’s only natural to be on the lookout for new video games to try on these latest platforms. FIFA 14

fifa14The annual soccer game is back for another year filled with players across the world in various leagues and tournaments. The FIFA soccer video game series premiered in 1993, and is still going strong. This latest addition to the line will be available for a multitude of platforms including Xbox 360, PS3, and PC download on September 24 in the U.S. An early release version is also available for the PS3 and comes out on September 20. The game will also appear on the PS4 and other Playstation and Nintendo devices including the PSP and the Wii. The Xbox One however might arguably be the best deal for the console which FIFA 14 debuts on for free (at least in Europe anyway—with a preorder of the device) and comes with FIFA Ultimate Team Legends, which features legends of the game.
