Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Selects Brooklyn Teenager As Hometown Heroes Winner

imageFans of the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. brand have selected 17-year-old Francesca Chaney and her non-profit Girls Advocating and Innovating the Nation (G.A.I.N.) organization as the winner of the latest edition of its bi-monthly Hometown Heroes program.

For receiving the largest amount of votes in the latest competition, Bandai Co. Ltd. and Sync Beatz Entertainment are awarding a $5,000 contribution to Ms. Chaney and the Brooklyn, N.Y.-based group she launched in 2011. With its roots as a mentoring program to help younger girls facing self-esteem issues, the G.A.I.N. mission took on a more ambitious agenda when recognizing the need to address more issues in local communities. As a result, they provide young women with the tools and resources to speak up and allow their voices to be heard on topics of their concern and address issues together, empower each other, and positively innovate their society. Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. App Surpasses 2.5 Million Downloads

Bandai Co. Ltd. and Sync Beatz Entertainment announced that downloads of the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. app have surpassed the 2,500,000 mark within just 90 days after its initial release. This milestone comes as downloads of the iOS version, which launched March 28 of this year on the iTunes store, have passed the 1.5 million mark, while more than 1 million downloads have been registered for the Android version since its premiere on the Google Play site on February 14.

Prompted by this response, Bandai will be issuing a recreation of the Tamagotchi Generation 2 version this summer, developed by Namco Bandai Games Inc., as an update to its app for both Android and iOS users in the U.S. and Canada. Users will enjoy a new game in its Toy mode, and a new game and new shell designs in the App mode, along with the introduction of new characters. Early next year, the company has plans to release Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. apps that recreate one of the brand’s most popular versions, the Tamagotchi Angel, for both Android and iOS platforms.

The companies have also confirmed the second winner in its Hometown Heroes program. This initiative encourages the public to nominate a local citizen who has made a measurable contribution to improving their community, with the nominee receiving the most votes winning a $5,000 charitable contribution. For the March/April 2013 voting period, the winner is Lori Weise, who was recognized for her work with the Los Angeles non-profit group she founded, Downtown Dog Rescue. In honor of her efforts, Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. presented her with a $5,000 check along with its Hometown Heroes Crystal Award.

 

Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Announces First Winner in Hometown Heroes Program

Bandai Co., Ltd. and Sync Beatz Entertainment celebrate the spirit of philanthropy by announcing Carole Pearson as the first winner of its Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Hometown Heroes program. Pearson is being recognized for her work in advocating for homeless dogs. A $5,000 contribution has been made in Pearson’s honor to her animal rescue group, The Dawg Squad.

Bandai Launches Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. App

Bandai Co. Ltd. and its North American marketing representative Sync Beatz Entertainment are giving a special gift to Tamagotchi fans: the first-ever app based on the property.

The free App, developed by Tokyo-based Namco Bandai Games Inc., provides the toy’s classic game play in a contemporary format through its new Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. (Love Is Fun Everywhere) lifestyle brand. The app can be downloaded for Android devices throughout the U.S. and Canada and will be available on the iOS platform for the iPhone and iPad.

The Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. app, downloadable at (www.tamagotchilife.com), is an authentic recreation of the classic Tamagotchi that captured the imagination of young fans across America when it launched in 1997.

The App is the latest element of the multi-faceted Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. brand initiative, which began with its website launch in November, the kickoff of an original series of T-L.i.f.e. webisodes, and the establishment of the “Hometown Heroes” program, where fans can nominate someone making a measurable difference in their community, and the winner of each two-month voting period is awarded a $5000 charitable contribution.
