Toy Industry Economic Impact in the U.S. Reaches $107.5 Billion

toy association logoThe toy industry’s annual total economic impact in the U.S. grew to $107.5 billion in 2017 from $80.25 billion in 2015, according to a new report from The Toy Association.

The data for 2017 indicates that the U.S. toy industry supports more than 677,000 jobs, generates $34.2 billion in wages for workers, and brings in $14.6 billion in combined state and federal tax revenue each year. Approximately 3 billion toys are sold across the U.S. per year, and while the average retail price of a toy is $10.14, the industry generates roughly $26.5 billion in direct U.S. retail toy sales and $90 billion in global retail toy sales annually. Ruling for Drone Registration Requirement Reversed

toy association logoA U.S. appeals court reversed a ruling that requires owners of recreational drones to register aircrafts that weigh more than 0.5 pounds with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), according to The Toy Association.

With the reversal, users of toy drones no longer have to register their aircrafts with the FAA, and manufacturers of toy drones no longer need to tell purchasers that FAA registration is required with the purchase of their drone. [Read more...]

Play Fair Introduces Preview Night

PlayFairThe second annual Play Fair introduces its first Industry Preview Night for members of the media and toy industry professionals on Nov. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m., the evening before Play Fair opens to the public. The event will offer press, buyers, and industry professionals advance access to exhibitors, talent, entertainment, and play experiences.
