COMMENTARY: Bathtime Toys Clean Up at Toy Fair 2015

This year, bathtime and playtime will become one and the same. Kids will no longer take pride in going days without bathing or purposely “forgetting” to wash behind their ears. In fact, judging from all of the amazing bath toys seen at the North American International Toy Fair, I’m betting that kids everywhere will be cleaner than ever and the dreaded bathtime battle between kids and parents will be a thing of the past. So, check out these babies and get ready for them to hit store shelves throughout the year! (Thought you should know, they’re listed in no particular order.)

Buyer, Trade Guest Registration Open for North American International Toy Fair

Oct22.ToyFairBuyer and trade guest registration has opened for the 112th North American International Toy Fair, according to the Toy Industry Association. Toy Fair 2014 is scheduled to take place February 14 to 17 in New York City.

The event, formerly the American International Toy Fair, was recently re-named the North American International Toy Fair, as part of a new affiliation agreement between TIA and the Canadian Toy Association. CTA and TIA will have a single toy fair, rather than single marketplace events in the U.S. and Canada.

Last year’s Toy Fair had a record-breaking 414,060 net square feet of exhibition space and welcomed an 11 percent increase in international buyers, an 8 percent rise in exhibitors, and a 5 percent spike in attendees.

Lund and Company Wins First TOYPAC Raffle; Second Fundraiser Kicks Off This Week

Lund and Company Invention LLC was selected as the winner of the Toy Political Action Committee (TOYPAC) Phase I raffle drawing, which was held this past Monday. The company will receive a Toy Fair 2015 prize package, including free booth space, accommodations, and travel.

Every Toy Industry Association (TIA) member company that submitted a Prior Approval Form—which allows TOYPAC to contact company personnel to ask for financial contributions—was entered into the raffle. “TOYPAC enables TIA to collect voluntary personal donations from the Association’s members, combine those funds into a more substantial amount, and direct those contributions to support key legislators on both sides of the aisle through a transparent process,” said Ed Desmond, TIA’s executive vice president of external affairs.
