The announcement of the ToyAward winners kicked off the Spielwarenmesse Toy Fair in Neuremberg on Jan. 27. ToyAwards were bestowed in four different age-specific categories. A ten-member expert jury made up of educators, market researchers, international sales agents and, an expert in toy safety chose the winners out of a record-breaking 616 submissions. The criterion for the awards are play fun, originality, safety, finish and quality, comprehensibility of the product concept, and potential for success.
Four winners were honored with the ToyAward on January 28 at this year’s opening ceremony of Spielwarenmesse, the specialty trade show in Nuremberg. The winners of the ToyAward beat 601 products from 318 exhibitors, and were chosen based on quality, creativity, safety, and educational benefits. This year, Spielwarenmesse will kick off in Nuremberg with 2,857 exhibitors. The number represents 67 countries and the widest offering ever seen at the event, scheduled to take place from January 28 to February 2. As of October 1, every Spielwarenmesse exhibitor can enter new products for the ToyAward competition. If they win, their products will be highlighted among the 75,000 new items presented at Nuremberg. A panel of 11 jurors selects products for the coveted new award in four age group-specific categories, based on children’s development stages: baby and infant (0 to 2 years), preschool (3 to 5), school kids (6 to 10), and teenager and family (from 11 years). This year, ToyAwards, presented to new products at the Spielwarenmessee International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, were awarded to products that displayed a unique play idea, concept, or creative design, as well as products with material properties and safety aspects. The four categories include Baby & Infant, Preschool, School Kids, and Teenager & Family. The awards aim to provide consumers and the trade guidance on the best new products. Visitors also had the opportunity to choose their personal favorite, the Traders’ Favorite, from the four ToyAward winners. The awards were announced at the closing press conference, and the winners received a prize of 20,000 euros.

Baby & Infant: Mini Micro with Seat/ Micro Mobility Systems Ltd. The Mini Micro grows with the child. One-year-olds can take their first ride on a Mini Micro and convert the roller later on.
