The Unexpected Journey Comes to Boardgames

Spin Master and Warner Bros. Consumer Products have teamed up to create Stratego—The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug game based on The Hobbit Trilogy, including the blockbuster The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, as well as the second and third films, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: There and Back Again, productions of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures.

Created for kids ages 8 and up, Stratego—The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug combines Classic Stratego battlefield strategy with the world of The Hobbit Trilogy for two ways to play. On one side of the game board, players can enjoy original Stratego play with detailed artwork from The Hobbit Trilogy. On the other side, players can take on the role of Bilbo Baggins and The Company of Dwarves to find a way to escape from Mirkwood. Alternatively, players can play as Spiders, Wargs and Orcs to keep Bilbo and the Dwarves trapped forever.

Scooby-Doo Hits the Stage: North American Musical Tour Launches in January

Scooby-Doo Live! Musical Mysteries, an all-new family musical presented by Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Life Like Touring, is set to tour North America, beginning in January. In this new show, Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. Gang have been called upon to help solve an epic mystery.  A trouble-making ghost is haunting a local theater and Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, Velma and Scooby-Doo are on their way in the Mystery Machine to help solve it.

Scooby-Doo Live! Musical Mysteries features big musical numbers including the classic Scooby-Doo theme song, “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?” alongside original tunes for the show, including “Round Every Corner” and “We’re Mystery Inc.”

Scheduled to tour more than 70 North American theatres next year, Scooby-Doo Live! Musical Mysteries features a cast of musical theater professionals, clever staging, and heaps of spooky special effects.

The Dark Knight Goes Digital: Sakar International Launches Batman-Themed Electronics

Kids of all ages will love being summoned to start their day with the Batman Alarm Clock Radio that projects the Bat-Signal on the wall or ceiling. Also sure to delight, the 3-in-1 Digital Camera offers still, video, and web-cam capability with three interchangeable face plates, while the Digital Video Recorder makes it quick and easy for users to film their own action scenes. The three-piece Batman Adventure Kit includes adventure necessities, such as a 35mm camera, flashlight, and binoculars. Pressman to Release The Lord of the Rings Games

Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Pressman Toy announced two new games based on The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the motion picture The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, both to hit store shelves this fall.

The Lord of the Rings Board Game Deluxe Version incorporates story elements from all three films—The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Board Game is based on the upcoming film directed by Peter Jackson and produced by New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), set to be released on December 14.

Both games will be available for purchase at mass and specialty retail locations this fall.

Round 2, LLC Announces Two Forbidden Planet Model Kits

Polar Lights, a brand of Round 2, LLC, is excited to announce the release of two kits based on the classic science fiction film Forbidden Planet. The kits, released under a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, allow fans of the films to recreate classic characters, whole introducing it to a new generation.

The Robby the Robot Movie Poster Edition kit will feature updated legs and arms along with a new rocky base to stand the model on, and all-new parts will be sculpted to create a figure of the movie’s heroine, Altaira. LEGO Group Launches Movie Maker App

Batman Live Worldwide Arena Tour Coming to North America

After a tour throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, and Latin America, Batman Live is coming to North America September 5. Written by Allen Heinberg and produced by Nick Grace of Water Lane Productions, Batman Live features stunts, pyrotechnics, illusions, and video screen sequences. The 42-member cast delivers a two-hour show and includes a new original storyline featuring Batman, Robin, Alfred the Butler, and additional characters such as, The Joker, Catwoman, The Riddler, Harley Quinn, and more.

Cryptozoic Entertainment Develops The Big Bang Theory Board Game

Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Warner Bros. Television Group have announced a partnership with Cryptozoic Entertainment to develop and publish The Big Bang Theory: The Party Game, based on the television comedy series.

Designed for three to six players ages 15 and up, the game has players pairing category cards with show insider phrases and references. Points are awarded based on judging and ranking the card combinations. The Big Bang Theory: The Party Game will be available at retailers nationwide, and Amazon, ThinkGeek.com, Barnes & Noble, Hastings, and f.y.e. (for your entertainment), in April.
