Round 2, LLC Announces Two Forbidden Planet Model Kits

Polar Lights, a brand of Round 2, LLC, is excited to announce the release of two kits based on the classic science fiction film Forbidden Planet. The kits, released under a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, allow fans of the films to recreate classic characters, whole introducing it to a new generation.

The Robby the Robot Movie Poster Edition kit will feature updated legs and arms along with a new rocky base to stand the model on, and all-new parts will be sculpted to create a figure of the movie’s heroine, Altaira. The Robby the Robot kit will come with a full-color backdrop to display behind the model, effectively creating the movie poster in three dimensions. Robby the

Robot will be molded in white plastic with some clear parts.

The C-57D flying saucer kit builds to a finished size of 12” – perfect for display! The ship can be built either in a flying or landing position. The parts will be injected in gray plastic, with a clear lower dome.

The “Forbidden Planet” kits will be released in fall of 2012, through local hobby shops and www.autoworldstore.com.

LEGO Group Launches Movie Maker App

LEGO Group, in conjunction with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Entertainment, has launched the LEGO DC Super Heroes Movie Maker app on the iTunes App store. The app allows users to create their own stop-motion movie featuring some famous superheroes. Batman Live Worldwide Arena Tour Coming to North America

After a tour throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, and Latin America, Batman Live is coming to North America September 5. Written by Allen Heinberg and produced by Nick Grace of Water Lane Productions, Batman Live features stunts, pyrotechnics, illusions, and video screen sequences. The 42-member cast delivers a two-hour show and includes a new original storyline featuring Batman, Robin, Alfred the Butler, and additional characters such as, The Joker, Catwoman, The Riddler, Harley Quinn, and more.

Cryptozoic Entertainment Develops The Big Bang Theory Board Game

Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Warner Bros. Television Group have announced a partnership with Cryptozoic Entertainment to develop and publish The Big Bang Theory: The Party Game, based on the television comedy series.

Designed for three to six players ages 15 and up, the game has players pairing category cards with show insider phrases and references. Points are awarded based on judging and ranking the card combinations. The Big Bang Theory: The Party Game will be available at retailers nationwide, and Amazon, ThinkGeek.com, Barnes & Noble, Hastings, and f.y.e. (for your entertainment), in April.

New ThunderCats Figurines from Bandai

Lion-O six-inch figure from Bandai

The ThunderCats toy line from Bandai America Incorporated is being updated with a six-inch figure line. The line, based on the classic 1980s animated series and the re-imagined new series from Warner Bros. Animation, will launch in the spring.

The six-inch figures are highly articulated, detailed, and designed to complement any fan’s collection. The Lion-O and Mumm-Ra figures will be the first available in the Classic Series line. The Tygra and Cheetara figures, a new introduction from Bandai, are inspired by the new animated series. Bandai will continue to offer the successful classic 8-inch ThunderCats figures in a limited-edition capacity.

The Bridge Gets Worldwide Rights to New The Hobbit Films

Warner Bros. Consumer Products has awarded the worldwide master toy and game licensing rights for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again to The Bridge Direct, Inc. The Bridge will develop an array of products inspired by the two films, which is directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings).

The line will include action figures, play sets, and role play accessories such as basic action figures, adventure packs, beast packs, highly detailed collector figures, a basic Sting sword, a basic Orcrist sword, a Dwarven battle axe, and a Deluxe Sting sword that features a blue glow just like in the film. The line is expected to debut at retail stores in fall 2012, prior to the December 14 release of the first film.

Techno Source to Distribute Character Options Toys in the U.S.

Techno Source, a division of LF Products, has signed a deal to distribute selected lines of toy company Character Options’ best-selling products, in the U.S. The partnership deepens the companies’ existing relationship, under which Character Options has distributed many of Techno Source’s products in the UK for nearly a decade.

Techno Source will bring to market a number of Character Options’ original and licensed toys under its Techno Source and Toy Island brands. The first products to launch under this partnership will be a Scooby-Doo toy line, as part of a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

Character Options holds the master toy license for Scooby-Doo in the UK and U.S. The Scooby-Doo products, which include figures, play sets, vehicles, plush, and goo, will be available at mass and specialty retailers beginning in the spring.

Lineup of Licensees for Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2

Warner Bros. Consumer Products has announced that the last installment of the best-selling Harry Potter film franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2, will be ushered in with a wide array of merchandising products for fans of all ages. The movie hits theaters nationwide Friday.

Lego has released a variety of play sets that feature locations and scenes from the films, including Hogwarts, The Forbidden Forest, and the Knight Bus. The Noble Collection will offer intricately crafted wands and other artifacts replicated from the series. Additional global licensees include NECA, Tomy, Panini, DeAgostini, Hasbro, Rubie’s Costume Co., Artbox Entertainment, Gentle Giant, Bioworld Merchandising Inc., Hallmark, Mead, Tonner Doll, and Jelly Belly Candy Company, which will re-release its 20-flavor collection of Bertie Bott’s Every-Flavour Beans.
