Chris Cocks Joins Hasbro as Wizards of the Coast President

Chris Cocks 1 2013Chris Cocks will replace Greg Leeds as president of Wizards of the Coast, the game and entertainment subsidiary of Hasbro. Leeds has resigned from the position, and served in his position since 2008, and started at Hasbro in 2001.

Cocks most recently served as vice president, OEM technical sales at Microsoft Corporation, where he led a global sales and technical engagement team. Prior to his eight years at Microsoft, Cocks served as vice president of educational games at LeapFrog, where he led a cross-discipline team to drive hardware planning, software design and development, and marketing and channel management.

Warner Bros. and Hasbro Partner on Dungeons & Dragons Feature Film Franchise

Pictures, Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures, and Sweetpea Entertainment are launching a feature film franchise based on Dungeons & Dragons, the world’s most popular role-playing game. Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis, Courtney Solomon and Allan Zeman of Sweetpea Entertainment, as well as Roy Lee (The LEGO Movie, How to Train Your Dragon) are attached as producers.

Funko and Wizards of the Coast Joining Forces for Magic: The Gathering Figures

Funko has entered a new licensing agreement with Wizards of the Coast Inc., a subsidiary of Hasbro Inc., to produce Magic: The Gathering Planeswalkers figures for Funko’s Pop! Vinyl and Legacy Collection action figures lines.

The first series of vinyl figures is set for release in April, and will feature 3.75-inch versions of Planeswalkers characters Jace Beleren, Garruk Wildspeaker, Chandra Nalaar, Liliana Vess, Ajani Goldmane, and Nissa Revane. The Planeswalkers will also be among the first Legacy Collection figures released; each one features more than 20 points of articulation as well as removable accessories.

Sculptors at Gentle Giant are collaborating with Funko on the new Legacy Collection, which is set for release in August and suitable for ages 14 and up.

Games & Puzzles: New Dungeons & Dragons

Wizards of the Coast is releasing a new Dungeons & Dragons board game: Conquest of Nerath. Designed for strategy gamers who want to immerse themselves in the world of D&D, Conquest of Nerath has players gather armies of footsoldiers, and siege engines, monsters, and dragons in an effort to protect the fate of the fragile League of Nerath against the undead.

The Conquest of Nerath board game includes a rulebook, a game board, dice, 110 cards, and 252 plastic playing pieces representing champions and the armies of Nerath, Karkoth, the Iron Circle, and Vailin.
