Cats vs. Pickles

The newest collectible range from Cepia LLC is inspired by a social media phenomenon.

For the past few years, videos featuring cats getting freaked out by cucumbers and pickles have racked up millions of views on YouTube. While some suspect that the reason is that pickles might remind cats of snakes, Cepia’s Cats vs Pickles brand posits the idea that pickles just love cats!

“After seeing the hilarity of these viral videos of cats jumping away from pickles, we knew we needed to capture the magic of this simple idea and turn into a fun play experience for kids,” says James Russell Hornsby, CEO of Cepia. “At the heart of the new line are the misunderstood and generally dim-witted pickles who unintentionally scare the uniquely designed cats, which perfectly capture the sassy personality of the real-life kitties. We can’t wait for kids to start collecting these adorable new characters.”

Cats vs Pickles launched this week with a YouTube channel featuring animated and live-action content and a free companion app for iOS and Android devices.

The Cats vs Pickles toy line will debut this spring. Kids can collect more than 100 styles of plush beanie cats in styles ranging from foodie cats to sweet cats to scary cats and more. The collection also includes 10 uniquely designed super-rare pickles. New Cats vs Pickles content will debut each week on YouTube.
