The first venue to host the worldwide tour of the new The Art of the Brick: DC Comics exhibition will be the Powerhouse Museum, part of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS) in Sydney, Australia. Created by artist Nathan Sawaya, the exhibition will take on DC Comics‘ 80-year history through large-scale sculptures of superheroes and supervillains made entirely out of millions of Lego bricks.

“We are thrilled to launch The Art of the Brick: DC Comics at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia, continuing our history of working with premier cultural institutions as part of our successful touring exhibition business,” says Brad Globe, president, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. “We know fans in Australia and around the world will enjoy Nathan’s artistic interpretations of DC Comics’ famous superheroes, supervillains, and more as they come to life through Lego bricks.”

Sawaya and comic book artist Jim Lee, who also serves as co-publisher of DC Entertainment, collaborated with fans at Comic-Con International: San Diego on a brand new Batmobile design, which Sawaya will create out of Lego bricks in his Los Angeles art studio. The sculpture will debut alongside more than 100 works of art when the exhibition opens this November.
