The Toy Industry Association (TIA) is now accepting toy, game, and property submissions across 12 categories for the 2016 Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards. The nomination period will close at 5 p.m. PT on October 2, and finalists will be unveiled on November 17. Winners will be announced at the TOTY Awards ceremony in February.
Toy companies, inventors, retailers, and other members of the industry are invited to nominate contenders by logging into their TIA account and completing the online nomination form. Instructions for logging in or creating a TIA account are available at the TIA website.
All submissions should include a 50-word description of the product, as well as a statement of up to 100 words explaining why the product or property is deserving of recognition on the TOTY Awards ballot. Products must have been introduced to the marketplace within the past two years and must be available at retail in the U.S. on or before November 17, 2015. Each submission is $75 for TIA members and $125 for TIA non-members.
Nomination committees comprised of up to 70 experts, including journalists, academics, retailers, and other toy experts, will select the nominees to be chosen as finalists. They will consider each product’s creativity, originality, and innovation; design and promotion; excellence of product; and marketplace acceptance.
