World’s Tallest Toy to Be Constructed at Big Build Festival

Tallest BuildingThe National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record by creating the world’s tallest construction toy tower out of Superstructs at The Big Build, a festival taking on September 20. The tower will be built in collaboration with WABA Fun LLC, and will be constructed to surpass the previous record of 114 feet. A team of engineers from the Southern Methodist University Lyle School of Engineering won a competition to design the structure and will be on hand to see its completion. A Guinness World Records representative will confirm the record at 3 p.m.

Visitors to the Big Build festival can participate in hands-on activities, including building a brick wall, carving stone, drive nails, construct a log cabin, climbing aboard construction vehicles in the Construction Vehicle Petting Zoo, and more. They will work side-by-side with plumbers, electricians, iron workers, landscape architects, woodworkers, and experts in similar fields to learn about their professions and hobbies.

The festival is free for the public and museum exhibitions will be open.
