The 70th anniversary edition of the Spielwarenmesse international toy fair gets underway in Nuremberg, Germany this week featuring more than 2,900 toy, hobby, and leisure manufacturers from around the world. More than 71,000 toy buyers and exhibitors from more than 125 countries will attend the event from Jan. 30 to Feb. 3, and the annual ToyAwards will kick things off. Four hundred and thirty-three exhibitors submitted 838 products for consideration, with the field narrowed to just 15 nominees across five categories. The winners of this year’s ToyAwards will be announced on Jan. 29 during the Opening Ceremony, which marks the beginning of the 70th Spielwarenmesse. The nominees and winners will be on display at the PressPreview on Jan. 29 and subsequently at the TrendGallery in Hall 3A from Jan. 30 to Feb. 3.
