Barbie - Brand Icon

Barbie will be honored with a Brand Icon Award during the 60th annual Clio Awards.

Hosted by Bravo’s Andy Cohen, the award presentation will take place Sept. 25 at the Manhattan Center in New York City. Lisa McKnight, Mattel’s global head of dolls, will be on hand to accept the award on behalf of the brand. The Clio Brand Icon Award is presented to a brand that “has transcended the product or service it provides to become a permanent fixture in popular culture.” Both Barbie and Clio are celebrating their 60th anniversaries this year.

“Barbie has stood the test of time because of the brand’s ability to connect to culture and its innate purpose — to inspire girls around the world to be anything,” says McKnight. “Evolution makes a brand relevant, but purpose makes a brand eternal. Today’s consumers want brands they can believe in and Barbie’s dedication to championing girls is what will make the next 60 years even better than the first.”
