COMMENTARY: Celebrating Canada Day—Toy Style!

In case you didn’t know, this past Tuesday was the national day of Canada! Here at The Toy Book, we’re lucky enough to work with tons of awesome Canadian toy companies, and to show both our support and Canada pride, here are some of our favorite toys from great Canadian toy manufacturers:

WowWee.MipWowWee

From WowWee, we always know to expect something innovative and hi-tech, such as last year’s 32-inch-long Roboraptor. In keeping up with the robo-trend, WowWee recently rolled out MiP, a unique, dual-wheel balancing interactive robot that utilizes GestureSense technology. With MiP, kids can control the robot through a Bluetooth link to any smart device using a free app. There are fun games to play with MiP, and kids can even make it dance to songs from their iTunes library.

Coming this fall, Noomie (aka a toy about to become every girl’s new best friend) is an adorable R/C creature that comes to life with exciting personality traits, motion, and sound. Noomie loves to play, and girls can put fun accessories on her, such as bows, a cowboy hat, and more.

Mega Bloks

MegaBloks.SkylandersSpinnersKnown for its array of construction toys for preschoolers and older kids, Mega Bloks also makes build-able toys for top brands, including Barbie, Skylanders Swap Force, and Hello Kitty. Although there are so many toys to choose from, the Mega Bloks Skylanders Swap Force Skylands Spinners and Frost Guard Battle Arcade is definitely a favorite. With these new toys, kids can build, spin, and smash their way to victory with Skylands characters that feature swappable bodies, a Skylands spinner ripcord, and interchangeable battle tips. Choose among characters such as Rattle Shake, Wash Buckler, Freeze Blade, Blast Zone, and more, and dual it out on the Battle Arcade, which features four fun knockout zones.

Girls who love Barbie and building can also collect new Mega Bloks Barbie sets and combine them all for endless fun. Sets include Barbie Build ‘n Play Luxe Camper, Glam Cabin, Beach Day, Play Pony Care, and much more. Kids ages 4 and up will have a blast creating the scene for Barbie and her friends to hang out and have fun.

Spin Master

Spin Master has brought kids awesome toys, including Zoomer, Flutterbye Fairies, and tons of incredible Air Hogs R/Cs. This year, Spin Master continues to roll out awesome products for kids with the release of DigiBirds and Paw Patrol Lookout HQ.

PawPatrolAdorably palm-sized and interactive DigiBirds are as fun to play with as they are to collect, and girls ages 5 and up can choose their favorite bird based on color and design. But with more birds comes more fun, because once kids start a collection, the birds will all sing together in a magical choir!

Preschoolers are crazy for Paw Patrol, the Nick Jr. series that teaches kids about friendship, safety, and teamwork. The toy line includes the Lookout HQ, which is featured in every episode. The toy version includes a working elevator, slide, lights, and sounds, and comes with a Chase vehicle. In this way, whenever trouble strikes Adventure Bay, kids can help the pups save the day.

Keep an eye out for these Spin Master toys (as well as many more), which are set to launch this August!
