Department, Toy Store Websites See Big Traffic Gains in November

Nearly four out of five consumers who went online in November visited an online retail site, according to a comScore Media Metrix. The report, a part of a monthly analysis of U.S. online activity the company conducts, also showed that websites of department stores and toy stores saw the biggest traffic increases from October.

Websites for department stores tied for the top-gaining retail category, growing 33 percent from October to November with nearly 81 million visitors. Walmart.com saw an increase of 62 percent, Target.com increased by 43 percent, and Sears.com gained 36 percent.

According to the report, toy websites also increased 33 percent to 27.4 million visitors. Toys “R” Us, Inc.’s websites led the way with an increase of 82 percent compared to October, and LEGO’s retail websites increased by 12 percent.
