Cat in the Hat - Almost Skateboards

Ahead of Licensing Expo, Dr. Seuss Enterprises unveiled a few new licensing deals for some classic characters.

Dwindle Distribution/Almost Skateboards is offering a full range of new pro skate decks (pictured top), the first of which shipped in March and feature The Cat in the Hat. Professional skateboarders including Max Geronzi, Youness, Yuri, and Rodney Mullen are taking part in the collaboration, and Almost Skateboards promises more styles from its Dr. Seuss capsule collection to follow.

Oriental Trading Dr. Seuss examples

Direct retailer Oriental Trading Co. is a new licensee, and is currently prepping its first assortment of approximately 20 products geared toward educators and kids in the classroom. The first wave will launch under the company’s education line in time for this year’s back-to-school season. By the fourth quarter, the company will launch its first seasonal assortment, with approximately 80 products set to feature The Grinch.

Dr. Seuss oral careNext year, the focus will be on consumer goods in the holiday, education, craft, graduation, birthday, and baby shower solution categories. Products will include party supplies, decor, educational curriculum, classroom incentives, apparel and accessories, craft kits and supplies, toys, and novelties. As with most products from Oriental Trading, items will be offered in large quantities — usually a dozen or more pieces.

Finally, Ranir, an oral care manufacturer that joined the Dr. Seuss licensing program last October, is offering kids’ manual and electric toothbrushes featuring The Grinch and The Cat in the Hat. Later this year, the company will launch travel kits and kids flosser sticks.
