Night & Day Studios awarded a license for its flagship preschool brand to Educational Insights, which will produce a Peekaboo Barn board game for toddlers. Peekaboo Barn was one of the first early childhood apps for mobile devices, and is now one of the first preschool brands to debut as an app and expand its reach through consumer products licensing.
The Peekaboo Barn board game will debut early next year. The board game will include the most popular characters from the original Peekaboo Barn app and its sequel app, Peekaboo Barn Farm Day. Educational Insights is designing the board based on a “Bedtime at the Barn” story and gameplay concept from Night & Day Studios, and will promote the development of social, cognitive, language, and physical skills in early childhood. The game’s box will be shaped like a barn and the animal game pieces, sized and shaped for little hands, will live inside. The Peekaboo Barn board game will be for the youngest board game players and their families, offering gameplay that is flexible for first-time board game players and encouragement of free play.
Educational Insights joins licensees Candlewick Press, Rich Frog, and Zazzle in the growing Peekaboo Barn consumer products program. Candlewick will publish an interactive board book with novelty elements based on Peekaboo Barn Farm Day next spring, in addition to releasing a bilingual edition of the original board book. A line of Peekaboo Barn plush animals will be developed by Rich Frog to launch next winter, and Zazzle will update the Peekaboo Barn boutique with new, customizable products including stickers, backpacks, lunch boxes, water bottles, and more.
