It’s not an invasion, but Entertainment One (eOne) and POP Family Entertainment are hoping that families will welcome aliens into their homes this summer.
Alien TV is a new series that follows “the slapstick misadventures of an extra-terrestrial television news crew as they try to understand the wild, baffling, and sometimes ‘just-plain-weird’ life on a newly discovered planet called Earth.” Geared toward kids ages 6-11, the series will debut globally on Netflix this summer following its premiere on Australia’s free-to-air Nine Network this month.
“Our new show, Alien TV, takes recognizable situations and transforms them into side-splittingly hilarious visual gags that have an instant and universal appeal for both kids and parents,” says Olivier Dumont, president, family brands at eOne. “Alien TV demonstrates our ongoing commitment to bringing audiences high-quality, original kids programming on the very best platforms and we really believe it has the potential to be a big hit when it debuts this summer.”
A total of 26 episodes have been created for the first season of Alien TV. The series blends real-world imagery with CGI animation to tell the story of a crew that misinterprets nearly everything they see.
With eOne having been acquired by Hasbro late last year, you can expect that if Alien TV is a hit, a toy line will follow.
