The massive success of Funko‘s Pop! Vinyl figures equals a lot of packaging.

Now, in an effort to move toward a more sustainable future, Funko has joined How2Recycle to show its fans how to properly dispose of the outer cardboard boxes that many of its products come packed in. Moving forward, the How2Recycle logo will be seen on standard and pocket keychain Pop! Vinyl figures, Pop! Deluxe, Pop! Jumbo, and Pop! Rides collectibles. Consumers are encouraged to remove any plastic blisters or windows from the packaging before recycling the cardboard boxes alongside the other recyclables that are collected weekly in the curbside programs offered by many communities.

“Funko is committed to contributing to a healthier planet and the company is proud to partner with How2Recycle to educate fans on how to recycle our product packaging properly,” says Funko President Andrew Perlmutter. “We hope that this small step will empower our consumers to make healthy choices for our planet in an effort to sustain it for generations to come.”

The How2Recycle label is the only U.S.-based recycling label that is standardized across all packaging types and is the only label to offer comprehensive instructions on packaging recyclability in an easy-to-understand format. Funko joins a host of other toymakers and national brands that use the How2Recycle labels, including Mattel, VTech, LEGO, Wendy’s, Smucker’s, and others.
