Last year, Funko officially became a $1 billion toy, collectible, and lifestyle company, but its entertainment aspirations have been looming large.

Now, the company inked a deal with 10:10 Games to create a series of AAA video games, beginning with an action platformer set for release next year. Funko revealed its plans yesterday during its Hall H presentation at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC).

“Creating iconic products that emotionally connect fans to their favorite fandoms is critical to each product portfolio decision,” says Funko CEO Andrew Perlmutter. “By partnering with 10:10 Games and utilizing the best creators in the business, we will have the talent to deliver games that reflect Funko’s unique look and feel across its lines and varied products.”

Funko x 10:10 Games first title is being led by video game developer and five-time BAFTA award winner Jon Burton with a team of top developers supporting the project.

While the specifics on the first title — including any licensors that might be involved — have not been revealed, Funko says “major third-party studio integration” is in play. Moving forward, the companies plan to focus on developing new games for current and next-gen consoles and PC.
