Who ya gonna call?

In Netflix’s case, Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan of Ghost Corps Inc.

The duo behind last year’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife and stewards for the future of Ghost Corps will executive produce a new Ghostbusters animated series that Sony Pictures Animation is developing with Netflix.

The move comes as the streaming giant embraces a host of toyetic kids and family content, including the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, CoComelon, My Little Pony: Make Your Mark, and the forthcoming Sonic Prime.

Later today, Reitman and Kenan will take part in the annual Ghostbusters Day celebration on the Sony lot in Hollywood where they will reveal more about what’s ahead for the Ghostbusters franchise.

The original Ghostbusters hit theaters in 1984 and has since spawned numerous extensions across film, gaming, toys, and publishing. Hasbro most recently handled the bulk of toys for the franchise, including products tied to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the classic film, and reissues of The Real Ghostbusters-inspired toys of the ’80s and ’90s.
