On Tuesday, Mattel unveiled a new slate of Barbie Fashionistas to “better reflect the world [kids] see today.” There’s one doll with vitiligo, one without hair, and one with a gold prosthetic limb and a darker skin tone. Ken also gets a new look, now with long, rooted blonde hair that kids can brush and style. While the doll with vitiligo and the long-haired Ken doll are available now, the remainder of the line will hit stores this summer.
According to the company’s website, the Fashionistas doll range now includes 176 dolls with nine body types, 35 skin tones, and 94 hairstyles that add more diversity to the way kids play.
