New fashions inspired by two of the biggest toy brands on the planet are headed for the Gap.
Mattel and Gap inked a deal to collaborate on apparel inspired by Mattel’s portfolio of brands, starting with Barbie and Hot Wheels.
“We are excited to partner with Gap to combine Mattel’s iconic brand portfolio with Gap’s signature products,” says Josh Silverman, Chief Franchise Officer and Global Head of Consumer Products at Mattel. “We look forward to working together to offer our fans fun, quality clothing for the entire family, plus a new way to embrace their favorite Mattel brands, franchises, characters, and stories.”
The partnership formally launches on May 23 with the Gap x Barbie collection.
The range will include T-shirts, skirts, logo hoodies, denim, button-downs, accessories, and pet apparel. Each product will feature Barbie branding and Gap’s signature arch typeface.
Beginning later this year, the Gap x Hot Wheels collection will roll into stores.
Select items from the Gap x Mattel collaborations will be sold in Gap retail stores and through Mattel’s direct-to-consumer platform, Mattel Creations.
