Barbie Roberts is getting into the reality TV game.
Mattel Inc. and Mission Control Media (Hollywood Game Night, Face Off, The Soup) have teamed up to develop a fashion design reality competition series that will focus on creating high-fashion collections for Barbie dolls. Barbie Fashion Battle features a dozen designers who will face off on teams assigned between two separate fashion houses, each run by a celebrity fashion icon.
The ultimate winner will be awarded a cash prize and the opportunity to design a new line of Barbie doll fashions for Mattel Creations, the in-house e-commerce platform that Mattel launched last summer.

“For more than 60 years, Barbie has been boss when it comes to fashion and has served as a muse for a variety of fashion designers, many of whom continue to design for her today,” says Adam Bonnett, executive producer, Mattel Television. “This project is part of our broader effort to expand the Barbie content universe with new scripted and unscripted content including the recently announced Barbie & Chelsea The Lost Birthday, among other projects.”
Bonnett is leading production for Mattel Television with Dwight D. Smith and Michael Agbabian serving as executive producers for Mission Control Media.
Barbie Fashion Battle is the latest production to join a slate of more than 25 projects being developed for TV and streaming platforms by Mattel TV and its partners. Other projects in development or production include The UNO Game Show, Masters of the Universe: Revelation for Netflix, a Monster High reboot at Nickelodeon, and a game show based on Whac-A-Mole.
