NPD Reports October 2016 U.S. Video Game Sales

95d4e4c4-b6ec-4949-b719-ead99d9fe6e5Analysis from The NPD Group shows that total video game sales from Oct. 2 to 29 was $875.7 million, up 6 percent from the same period last year.

Total video games hardware decreased 20 percent from this time last year from $270.3 million to $215.2 million.

“The 3DS experienced its fifth straight month of year-on-year growth. Both unit sales and consumer spending for October grew 12 percent as average pricing was flat year on year,” says NPD’s Video Game Analyst Sam Naji. “It is likely that continued consumer interest in the Pokémon franchise and Monster Hunter: Generations has driven this growth.”

The top 10 games based on dollar sales are Battlefield 1Mafia IIIGears of War 4FIFA 17NBA 2K17Elder Scrolls V: SkyrimWWE 2K17Civilization VITitanfall 2, and Madden NFL 17.
