Move aside Melbourne, Pop Mart is dropping a pin in another major Australian city: Sydney.
Chinese retailer Pop Mart opened its second location down under at Westfield Sydney in Sydney’s central business district. The pop-up shop combines the chain’s Robo Shop and retail store together, enabling consumers the opportunity to have a one-stop-shop offline shopping experience. In addition to Pop Mart’s blind boxes, products including 200% figurines and Mega Collection are available for purchase on-site.
During the pop-up’s opening, fans flocked to the launch of the Pino Jelly “How Are You Feeling Today?” series, Mega Collection 1000% α Skullpanda Between Light and Dark, and limited-edition figurines such as Sparkle Pink Pucky the Ghost and Mint A Boy. These items come from collaborations with design artists like Kenny, Pucky, Ayan, and Skullpanda, netting art toy characters including Molly, Dimoo, Skullpanda, The Monsters, Hirono, and Pucky.
According to Pop Mart, the art toy craze has swept cross Australia in recent years. To give Aussie consumers more access to these toys offline, the company will continue to open more physical stores, pop-up stores, and Robo Shops. Since 2018, Pop Mart has expanded its worldwide presence to 23 countries and regions through more than 350 stores and 1,800 Robo Shops globally.
Thus far, Pop Mart has opened one retail store, two pop-up stores, six Robo Shops, and one e-commerce channel in Australia. Pop Mart also maintains licensing partnerships with Disney, Warner Bros., and others.
