The maker of the iconic Original Little Red Wagon is updating a classic for kids who could use a lift.

Radio Flyer, in collaboration with the Starlight Children’s Foundation, introduced the Hero Wagon, a new product specifically designed to be used in children’s hospitals. Chicago-based Radio Flyer says that it plans to donate 1,000 Hero Wagons to hospitals across the country each year.

“This product launch is especially near and dear to the hearts of the Radio Flyer team, as it encapsulates so much of what we strive for as a company,” says Radio Flyer’s Chief Wagon Officer Robert Pasin. “Our mission is to bring smiles to all children and create warm memories that last a lifetime. If we can help bring even one smile to kids enduring some of their hardest times, we’ve exceeded that mission with the Hero Wagon.”

To create the Hero Wagon, designers at Radio Flyer consulted with hospital staff to create features that can benefit both patients and staff in a hospital setting. This includes a patented one-hand folding design, a patent-pending IV pole bracket integrated into the wagon, and the use of wipe-clean, medical-grade fabric. It also features soft, high walls and a seatbelt to protect kids as they cruise the hospital hallways.

Anyone that is interested in donating a Hero Wagon can do so by pledging a donation of $200 or more through the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
