Captain Action Enterprises LLC (CAE), in cooperation with veteran game designers and developers Harold Sipe and Meg Stivison, will release a new card game based on the beloved Captain Action properties. They will be bringing the full cast of Captain Action, Dr. Evil, Lady Action, and the overall mythology to gamers and action figure fans next year as part of Captain Action’s 50th Anniversary.
The redesigned Captain Action card game will be based in part on the original send-away card game first introduced in 1967. The design of the box and deck will have a retro visual appeal, while keeping the 3-in-1 style of play from the original game. The game will include both classic art and new pieces and imagery from established comics and animation artists.
“We especially excited for this project as it has the perfect balance of nostalgia and forward-thinking freshness,” says Ed Catto, senior strategist and brand builder at Captain Action Enterprises. “With Captain Action’s 50th Anniversary rapidly approaching, the fan base will be looking for both retro and new takes on the Captain.”
