Scholastic will launch a publishing program based on the American Girl brand. The multi-year agreement includes the right to publish books in print and digital formats in 2017, and the deal marks the first time that American Girl has licensed the rights to publish books based on its characters. The books will be published and distributed in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, the UK, Australia, and Asia.
Tiles will span for ages 5 to 12 and includes publishing for the popular Girl of the Year line, which will include each character’s novels and new formats for current and previously-released Girl of the Year characters. American Girl will also release a non-fiction chapter book-series with Scholastic inspired by the the BeForever line.
