Spin Master is entering a new realm of fantasy.
The kids entertainment company announced its newest franchise, Unicorn Academy. Located on Unicorn Island, Unicorn Academy is the boarding school of kids’ dreams and houses Sophia and the rest of the freshman class. Together, they must bond to unlock their magical powers, which will help them learn how to become the protectors of the island and its magic. The franchise is based on books written by Julie Sykes and published by Penguin Random House.
“Our team has done an amazing job of bringing the magic of Unicorn Academy across all play patterns,” says Max Rangel, Global President and CEO at Spin Master. “We want to be where kids are; whether it’s in toy boxes, on their TV screens, or on digital devices, Unicorn Academy will be there to ignite, engage, and inspire new fans.”
This fantasy-adventure will begin as a Netflix animated series, produced by Spin Master Entertainment. The series will enter a magical world and follow Sophia as she discovers her destiny as a unicorn rider. The franchise begins with a 72-minute movie premiere event and episodic content slated for the fall, with a toy line, digital game, and licensed consumer product scheduled to rollout in 2024. Spin Master also plans to build a multiplatform franchise experience, with content planned through 2025.
