Creative Factor

Ideas are easy. Turning them into mass quantities of product is not.

At Toy Fair New York, the Creative Factor session, “Manufacturing 101: From Idea to Factory Floor,” will take a deep dive into taking an idea from a napkin sketch to a working engineered prototype to the factory floor. The talk will be led by Brett Klisch, founder of Creative Factor & creative director of Peru Meridian Studios, and Charles Berzon, director of ProSource Global.

“There is a lot to learn about how to get your product from sketch to actual product and even more to know about how to ship it out of China, if you choose to go that route,” said Klisch. “We’ll address these topics and how to navigate a lot of China legalities in this session.”

Inventors and designers will get a primer on where to get started; the types of manufacturing available — from injection molding to roto casting, blow molding, VACU forming, and more; and how to choose the process that works best for their product. Attendees will also learn how to design with manufacturing and shipping in mind and how to then find a factory to do it all.

To listen in on this seminar, Toy Fair attendees can join Klisch and Berzon on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 11:10 a.m. in the Creative Factor Theater (the lobby outside Hall 1D).

The session is part of a series of seminars delivered by Creative Factor at Toy Fair, an educational program that aims to support and foster growth within the global toy inventor and designer community. All Toy Fair registrants are welcome to participate in a full schedule of roundtables, presentations, workshops, and panels focused on the interests and goals of inventors, designers, and others in the creative community.

In addition, toy manufacturers are invited to hear product pitches from select inventors and designers during The Toy Association’s “CF@TF Inventor Day,” taking place on Friday, Feb. 21. For more information, contact The Toy Association’s Marian Bossard at mbossard@toyassociation.org.

Toy Fair New York will take place from Feb. 22-25 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
