EXCLUSIVE: TOMY Celebrates 50 Years of Johnny Lightning with Debut of ‘Micro Strike’ Collection

TOMY International is racing into Toy Fair New York to debut an all-new extension of its long-running Johnny Lightning brand.

Johnny Lightning Micro Stike brings the action and speed of Johnny Lightning into a completely new 1-inch miniature scale. Each Johnny Lightning car in the assortment features a die-cast chassis, sleek styling, and new Cyclonic wheels designed to reduce drag and increase speed. With the new cars, kids can race at scale speeds of up to 1,300 mph.

“Johnny Lightning is such a nostalgic brand and we’re beyond excited to be part of its 50th anniversary,” says Pete Henseler, president of TOMY International Inc. “From their lightning-fast speed to the fun-to-open Thunder Crack packaging they come in, these cars offer endless hours of entertainment. There’s no doubt that they’ll be around for another 50 years.”

At launch, Johnny Lightning Micro Strike vehicles will be sold in 3- and 7-pack assortments targeting younger fans of collectible cars.

Round 2 will continue to produce the famous, 1:64-scale die-cast vehicles that Johnny Lightning is known for. Round 2 has produced the cars under license from TOMY since 2016.

TOMY will showcase its full range of products in booth No. 3003 at Toy Fair New York, taking place from Feb. 22-25 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Round 2 will show off its die-cast range in booth No. 6219.
