Now in its third year, the #DeviceFreeDinner campaign from Common Sense Media now features some new stars from a familiar street. Sesame Workshop partnered with the advocacy group for a new collection of PSAs featuring the Muppets of Sesame Street in a move to further emphasize the importance of a “device-free” family dinnertime. The Sesame Street characters model healthy media habits in the spots, which will be distributed nationally and run in both English and Spanish.
Recent research shows that one-third of kids ages 0 to 8 are frequent users of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. The campaign seeks to encourage healthy media balance by showcasing the importance of distraction-free family time.
The PSAs will be distributed across a variety of networks including NBC, Fox, Comcast Xfinity, Charter, Cox, National Geographic, NCM, PBS, Univision, Telemundo, HITN, and Xfinity Latino.
Sesame Street continues to increase its brand profile this year as the series celebrates its 50th anniversary.
