The COVID-19 pandemic is picking up the pace in the U.S. and toy companies can help in the fight against it.

The Toy Association compiled a list of ways toy manufacturers can assist during this crisis and the resources to do it. Hospitals’ biggest needs right now are personal protective equipment, such as masks and gowns, and ventilators, which essentially breathe for patients when they are unable to.

A number of how-to guides have been made available for those who can meet these needs with the help of 3D printers. Toymakers that are willing to help should have the ability to design and engineer parts, and then ship the items to hospitals in need. The Toy Association also lists different organizations that can tell manufacturers where that need is highest.

Toy designers and inventors willing to take part can also check out the initiatives by the medical community on ways they can discover new solutions to this problem.

As a kid, Nicole either wanted to be a professional toy player-wither or a writer. Somehow, as social media editor for The Toy Insider, The Toy Book, and The Pop Insider, she’s found a career as both. She's grateful to work somewhere that she can fully embrace both her love of teddy bears and her admiration for the Oxford comma. When she's not playing with toys at work, she's playing with her baby girl at home.
