TIA.SafetyThe Toy Industry Association (TIA) was an exhibitor and supplied medical professionals with information about toy safety and the developmental benefits of play at the annual Advanced Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Assembly. This year’s event took place from March 24 to 25. The assembly provides more than 450 participants with updates on the latest and most innovative developments in pediatric emergency medicine, as well as opportunities to network with others who are committed to child health, safety, and well being.

TIA engaged with doctors, nurses, child life specialists, and other pediatric emergency medical personnel who are on the front lines of children’s injuries. In addition TIA spoke about the rigorous standards in place to ensure the safety of toys sold in the U.S., the distinction that reported toy-related injuries do not always imply a causal relationship, and the toy industry’s long-standing commitment and leadership in toy safety.

Attendees left with small parts testers and information on toy safety. TIA also provided information about the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional benefits of play. It also distributed information about the industry’s new Genius of Play information awareness campaign and how medical professionals can help educate patients and their families about the value of play.
