The art of garden warfare is coming home in a soft new form.
Retail Monster brokered a new deal between TOMY International and Electronic Arts (EA) for a new line of plush inspired by characters from the video game, Plants vs. Zombies. The new collection of super-soft, squeezable, huggable plush is being developed under TOMY’s Club Mocchi- Mocchi- brand.
“Plants vs. Zombies is a wildly popular video game franchise and we’re thrilled to be the licensed partner that gets to bring its characters to life in plush,” says Morgan Weyl, director of global brands at TOMY. “Many of Club Mocchi- Mocchi-‘s most popular plush toys are characters and accessories from beloved video games, so we’re excited to bring a little piece of Plants vs. Zombies into gamers’ homes around the world.”
Since launch, Plants vs. Zombies has garnered more than 1.2 billion installs. The franchise will continue to expand with new titles and content releases in the years ahead.
The new licensing deal follows a recent run of news from TOMY, including its acquisition of Fat Brain Toys; a deal to produce toys based on 20th Century Studios’ Ron’s Gone Wrong; and a deal with Illumination and Universal Brand Development to produce toys based on Sing 2.
